try a new battery and charger!

Dell chargers have a centre pin to allow the laptop to sense that the charger is a genuine Dell one. If the battery is not charging then: a) Battery is faulty (old and dead) b) Pin missing on the charger, wire broken or not original Dell device c) Charging port on the laptop has become loose. it could be because of loose headphone jack. plug in theheadphone jack and unplug it a few times, maybe it will get fixed if it is due to loose connection. also check the audio left-right balance in the system tray. it could also be fault in the wire or a dead speaker coil
