I don't want to sound sarcastic... but are you accidentally tapping the "home" key?

I had a C600 do the same thing. It kept happening but I got some control over it by blowing around the edges of the touchpad with canned air and then cleaning the touchpad agressively with 99% isopropyl alcohol and a soft lint free cloth. If that makes a noticeable difference then we are on the right track. If the problem becomes unmanageable touchpad replacement may be in order. Let me know if this helps. If you need further solutions I will research further and post as data becomes available.

One of two components need to be replaced. The inverter board or the back light. The inverter is usually what will die. The inverter board is along the bottom of the display.

Go to the DELL WEB site www.dell.com
Make sure you download the correct operating system drivers for your model laptop.
To search for the correct drivers by use the Service Tag number, this is printed on a label on the bottom of the laptop, it is also displayed in the BIOS.

Use air compressed can to clean under and around key (if issue could be mechanical)

Assuming you are trying to playback a video file, try VLC media player. You may be missing codecs to playback the video. VLC includes them.

Hello, Jay.Well, as the message indicates, your hard disk drive is failing or failed. Try running your diagnostics to verify (boot and press F2 or F12 repeatedly).If the hard drive is failing, see if someone locally can help to retrieve your documents and other files by removing the drive and setting up the drive as a slave drive on another computer.The drive would then need to be replaced. Price the same type of drive but it may not be cost-effective to use another drive in this computer.Hope this helps.

This laptop does not have ethernet or wireless capabilities. You can't connect this to a wireless network.
You would need to buy a PC extension card and use it from the extension connector slot.

Try turning it on without the battery and the power cord connected

Hey Buddy here's a video which explains how to get S-Video to work on a laptop not specific to the model you have mentioned but i hope this helps u figure it out.
