When I turn my Dell Latitude D810 on the screen
I would try taking the battery out and unplug it from the mains then hold the start button down for about 30 seconds then try again if no good try reseating the memory and if there is 2 sticks of memory try taking one out in turn and trying the other slot, or try starting it in safe mode (could be by continously pressing F8 on start up
How do i turn on
You should see a blue WiFi symbol on the "F2" key (a little tower with curved lines on each side). All of the blue symbols on the keys are functions that are toggled on or off by using the Function "Fn" key.
Press and hold the Function "Fn" key, and at the same time press the "F2" key and then release both.
You should see a comment box in the bottom right corner of the screen pop up telling you that the WiFi has been turned on or off.
Master reset dell
Hi Rhonda
I think the chip you are referring to is in the bios, you may be able to contact Dell and get them to issue you with a new password, alternatively you could try removing the motherboard battery, or flashing the bios. Not all motherboard batteries can be easily removed, some are soldered into place.
Some PC's/Laptops come with support discs that include a bios utility for just this sort of situation, again Dell will be able to tell you if such a facility exists for your Laptop, and you could also try looking on Ebay.
Where is the chip for master password?
It's on the motherboard, and you can't replace it. If you absolutely CANNOT remember (or get) that password, then you have to replace the motherboard or the whole notebook.
D810 NOT CHARGING
It's usually one of two things: Bad charging cable, or bad connection to the motherboard.
If the charging cable has a light that's lit on it, it's not the charger.
If the charger plug is loose when you plug it into the laptop, it means that the connector needs to be soldered back on. If you are unfamiliar with soldering, it's better to pay to have someone else do it, as you could easily ruin the laptop by trying to DIY. Go to your closest repair shop and have it done, most will do it for under 50.
Restore factory settings
You need to have a Dell "restore" or "reinstallation" CD/DVD that match with your laptop's operating system's key number (it is located on the bottom of your laptop). If you don't have it anymore, then as far as I know, you can use a Dell Windows XP Pro DVD/CD to reinstall the operating system. Later, you need to use other computer to download some necessary drivers; copy them to your D810 notebook and install them. I have this kind of DVD, so please let me know if you need it.
