There will be a back door password , password can reset for some model in dell platform.A BIOS password is a protection measure that can be used to stop someone powering up a computer system or making changes in some of the computers most sensitive areas. Many big name computer manufacturers such as Dell and HP lock the customers out of this area because they don't want the customer changing anything and potentially damaging the machine (which the manufacturer may have to warranty). However, when someone like a computer technician or hardware enthusiast needs to make some hardware changes to the computer, they will need to access the BIOS. Yes on a dell motherboard there is a jumper used to connect and disconnect a battery that is attached to motherboard. In order to clear a BIOS password you need to remove the jumper for approx 30 sec and replace to wipe the password.

As a guess you are installing Windows 7. Yup it is very very very slow. ;-]

The first time I installed 7 I thought there was something wrong but that is just the way it works. XP or Vista will install in about 30-40 minutes while 7 on the same hardware can take 3-4 hours (or more).
No fix for this other than finding something to do while you wait.

You can use Hiren's Boot CD to reset the administrator password. Download it and burn it on a CD. Boot from CD when computer starts up and go to Password Tools, and use one of the Windows utilities from there (you can choose from more: Password Renew 1.1, NTPWD, WinKeyFinder 1.73, Offline NT Password Changer 2010-06-27).

Yes is the short answer, repairs will probably cost more than the mother board is worth.

Have a good look at all the solder joints, is there a dry joint, looks like a blob of solder which is
hollow and a bit of wire poking through. If you can find one, re-solder it.

If not, you're into electronically testing each component

Depending on how old your current one is, will depend on whether you replace with like for like or decide to upgrade.

Your problems will be:-

1) Dell uses proprietary equipment, so the replacement will still need to be supplied by dell. Or get a second hand one.

2) It will need to be compatible with your CPU, RAM, PCI cards and HDD/ optical disk interfaces

Good fun, but a nightmare if you're not sure what you're doing.

An alternative is to buy a second had PC and put you current HDD in as a slave keeping the original as a master, even then you need to match interfaces.

try cleaning your keyboard of dust because dust causes static which can cause lots of problems to a computer or make sure that your keyboard connection is secure +control panel,computer management,device manager scroll down to keyboards if a yellow question mark?right click update driver

Yes, a 1024MB video-card would work, but what are you doing that would benefit from such a high-end video-card?

Are you trying to drive a high-resolution (1920-by-1280) monitor, at high frames/second rates?

Is your CPU fast-enough to support a high frames/second rate?

This system uses a PCI-E slot for its video (graphics) card. This is the perfect platform to accept a high end card that has dual DVI outputs, which allows multiple displays. You should change out the card that came with the machine, most PCI-e cards these days have the dual outputs and cost less than a hundred bucks. The dual output is a better way to go instead of an adapter.
