My dell optiplex GX110 motherboard problem

I would suggest defaulting the bios, either by way of the cmos jumper, or by entering the bios at boot, selecting "load defaults" from the menu at the bottom of the screen, save and exit. If setting the defaults does not fix the onboard IDE then you have a hardware failure. They make IDE adaptors that plug into a PCI slot, that could get you back into operation, but I'm afraid if the IDE has gone on the mobo, what's next? I would be afraid something else will fail.
Maybe you'll get lucky with the defaults.

Go to the right in this box, and left-click on Download, in the blue oblong circle.

In the window that comes up go to the bottom,
Download via your internet browser

Left-click on Download at the bottom left, in the blue oblong circle.

Give it a couple of seconds, and a small window will come up on the right -
Opening R45973.EXE

Left-click on Save File.

Now, write down what is in the heading at the top of the next small window that comes up.
In the wording tells you where the file will download to.

It may have Desktop, or My Documents, or Downloads, in the wording.

{IF you are using a computer with Windows Vista, or Windows 7, it may have -
Desktop, or Documents, or Downloads}

1) Desktop: The file will be right on your desktop screen.
File name is R45973.EXE, and should be next to a folder icon.

2) My Documents: Left-click on Start, then on My Documents

{Or left-click on the Windows logo button, and then on Documents, for Vista and Win7}

3) Downloads: Left-click on Start, then on My Documents (On the right side)
DOUBLE- click on Downloads.

WHEN you see the file name DOUBLE- click right on it.
The Installation Wizard will come up.
Follow the easy instructions.

(In the first two windows just left-click on Next at the bottom. In the last window left-click on Finish)

Once the Drivers are installed, (This is an audio driver file), close all windows, go back to your desktop screen.

Restart your computer.
(P.S. I hope you have the sound turned down! lol!)

For additional questions please post in a Comment.

Driver: A small piece of software that allows the operating system, to 'communicate' with a device.
{In this case your operating system is probably Windows XP Home Edition, and the device is the audio}

Quitar Password de Bios de Pc Dell Optiplex GX100,

Hope you can read this. if not, GOOGLE...TRANSLATE.

Removing the PSWD jumper is the correct method of clearing the BIOS password. Removing the battery resets the CMOS.

Remove the power from your computer. Remove the battery. Remove the PSWD jumper. Wait!!!!

Keep power off the computer for at least 30 minutes, overnight is better.

Replace the battery. Plug the computer in. Do Not Reconnect the PSWD jumper.

Now reinstall your operating system and drivers. When finished, restart your system. If everything works and you want to redo the BIOS password, shut the computer down. Unplug the power. Remove the battery. WAIT.

Replace the PSWD jumper. Replace the battery. Plug in the power. Restart the computer, hitting "F2" as it starts....to open the BIOS setup page. Reset your password here. Esc to continue, Yes to save.

Good luck

I have tried to change

always place the ram with the biggest closest to you CPU central processing unit and try to keep it the same brand/type if you have done this to no satisfaction

one bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your motherboard to your hard drive make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty

hope this helps

Sir, I have a Dell

When you inserted a test probe into the slot and you saw a spark, then you have short circuit a component on the motherboard and have done a major damage to the motherboard.
You need a new motherboard, most desktop cases have standard mounting holes, you may be able to purchase a motherboard from other manufacturer to fit in the Dell.

I have a dell optiplex

In order to connect to the Internet, you need the following things:

- an Internet service provider (ISP)
- a network interface card (NIC) or modem
- a cable to connect from the NIC or modem to the jack in the wall where your Internet service comes in

Do you have all of these three things? What type of Internet service do you have? (ie. cable, dial-up, DSL, etc.)

Dell GX110, como remover en password del BIOS

This information is intended for experienced users. It is not intended for basic users, hackers, or computer thieves. Please do not try any of following procedures if you are not familiar with computer hardware. I'll not be responsible for the use or misuse of this information, including personal injury, loss of data or hardware damage. So use it at your own risk.

A. By Using the Motherboard Jumper:

In most motherboards CMOS battery is soldered, which makes it difficult to remove the battery. In this case we use another method.

Almost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. If you don't have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc.

When you find the jumper, look carefully. There will be 3 pins and the jumper will be joining the center pin to either left or right pin. What you need to do, is remove the jumper and join the center pin to the opposite pin. e.g. if the jumper joins center pin to left pin, then remove it and join center pin to right pin. Now wait for a few seconds and then again remove the jumper and join the center pin to left pin.

Make sure to turn the PC off before opening the cabinet and resetting the jumper.

B. By Using Software:

I have found that BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is the most effective.:
BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is a program that works instantly to remove any lost or forgotten BIOS/CMOS password. Simply boot your PC to DOS and execute the program, and get access to forgotten BIOS/CMOS passwords in just seconds
