All USB sockets support that, it's in the standard. But for ease of use it will be better to use a hub. But because it's such an old laptop it will surely be an 1.1 type, and the speed will be very slow.

My computer has no sound

After reinstalling/installing an Operating System you can lose the Audio Drivers or sometimes they just corrupt.. Try reinstalling the Audio Drivers from the disk provide with your P.C./Laptop. If you no longer have the disk just visit the website of the makers of your P.C./Laptop or Motherboard and download the Audio Drivers from there, after that install them.
Thumbs up please if this works for you, thanks.

I HAVE A BIOS PASSWORD BLOCKING IT FROM LOADING UP

To get by this password you have to clear the CMOS. To do this open the case and take a look at the motherboard (system board). Find the lithium battery that backs up the CMOS. Adjacent to the battery holder, somewhere near, depending on the make of your motherboard, you will see a set of 3 or 4 small pins with a jumper cap across two of them. ( a jumper cap is about 4mm square & 3mm deep with a metal liner) Remove this jumper cap and place it on the other two pins for abou 10 seconds. This puts a ground on the reset leg of the CMOS chip and clears all memory. Return the jumpercap to its original position and boot-up. Pressing 'del' will get you into CMOS setup. Find and select "Load defaults". Press escape and choose "save changes & exit". Computer will now boot normally and will not ask for a password.

Machine completely dead no life signs at all

Hello,
It is very likely that during the transportation, a loose contact could have been created. Now whatever be the case, since it does not turn on at all, the Laptop will have to be opened and the motherboard checked. Get a good technician to check the board for you and with the appropriate tools, it is very likely that your problem will be solved.

All the best.

DELL d600 model pp01l

If your motherboard traces are damaged, I would highly recommend replace the board. This model laptop can have considerably high current running through that jack and traces. if anything is weak it will burn through.

Or take it to a electronics specialist.

CHARGING PROLEMS

Josh, There are several possibilites. Lets start with the easiest.
1. Are you using the original power cord? The wrong cord will heat the system up.
2. Does your motherboard fan come on?
3. did you upgrade from windows XP to Vista?

The unscrew ever visible screw on the reverse of the laptop.
there is a few hidden one there under stickers... You will see some more screws where your processor is, careful unscrew them, and your done. Was you cleaning your fan or replacing it?
Because your wire may have come loose connecting your CPU fan to the motherboard.
