You need to purchase transparent film especially for inkjet printers.
The reason why it is smeared, the ink cannot dry quick enought on vellum.

you can reset the printer to get rid of this message by simply download the resetter for epson, go to this page

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent inkdrying out in the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages,then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer thanreplace the print head.

Try to use Epson original ink and see if you still be getting the same problem. you may also try to reset the printer to factory state. Press and hold the RESET button for 3 secs. this will reset the printer.

Hi with your Epson machine normally its the print head that has dried up and the ink is not able to get on to the paper have you used the head cleaning on the machine? this can help and some people claim that using head cleaning liquid works (I have not found them to be much use)
if you have tried all the above then its down to replacing the print heads and this is not for the DIY person and in the Uk it usually not an economical repair

Dear friend,

If you left the printer idle for long time without switching it ON some more days the ink will get dry.So after trying to take print, the liquid ink won't flow through the micro head nozzles.Apart from this ,the head also contains some circutary problem,or it even be solved by just pushing it with liquid(only avail at service centrres).So better to service the printer in nearest service centre.

mrauand, Pl provide more details and I can help to resolve your issue. Is it connected via USB or LPT? Does printer recognized on your computer? Is it Windows XP / Vista / 7 or Mac computer?
