I got mine working on Windows 7 (x64) by doing the following:
1. Download the Windows 7 Epson Scan driver for the Perfection 2400 from the epson site 2. Install the drivers 3. In Start Menu->All Programs->Accessories right-click Notepad and select Run as administrator 4. In Notepad File->Open and browse for the es27.inf file located in C:\Program Files (x86)\epson\escndv\es0027 5. On line 51, 54, and 57 replace PID_011B with PID_0101 6. Save the file. 7. Connect and turn on the scanner. 8. In Device Manager (Start Menu, right-click Computer, select Properties, Device Manager) right-click the scanner and select Update Driver Software->Browse my computer for driver software 9. Select the location of the modified INF file (C:\Program Files (x86)\epson\escndv\es0027 Include subfolders checked). 10. Say ok to the window that pops up and it should start installing the drivers.
In Photoshop you should then be able to import using WIA-Epson Perfection 2400 (importing with Epson Perfection 2400 causes Photoshop to freeze)

You should have the driver for this in Windows 7 by default if it works don't worry about it - if it doesn't work - look for it in driver and hardware - remove it and then reboot the pc. The pc will automatically find the printer sand seek out the Driver and install it.

Download the driver from onto a usb stick if needed. The appropriate driver as per your OS is available at

I do not see this scanner on the Epson support site. They may not have a Win7 driver. You could try an XP driver in the compatability mode (right click on the driver and select Properties and the Compatability tab. Check the box next to Run in compatability mode) You can download a driver from a site like this one, http://download.cnet.com/EPSON-GT-7000/3000-2118_4-73143.html .

Another possibility is available in Win7 Pro and Ultimate. Download and install the XP mode from Microsoft. Install the scanner in the virtual XP computer. You may need to save files to external media to transfer them between the two computers.

When installing, select the driver inside the 2000 folder. It works in XP. You may have to install via the device manager.

If you take is apart you may find jammed gears or dry lubricant causing a 'paper jam', due to its age and storage.

Try a hard reset of the printer. Oddly, the 034019 is not an error code, I have reason to think. It is a contact number, I believe.

Follow the steps given below to reset Epson L382 printer. Step 1: Turn the printer off. Step 2: Press and hold the reset button which is on the back of the printer using a paper clip or tip of a pen. Step 3: Turn on the printer by holding the Power & reset button and continue to hold both the buttons. Step 4: Wait for 5 seconds and a warning sheet will print. Release the reset button. Step 5: After 5 seconds, another sheet will print which will show the IP address of the printer. hold the reset button which is on the back of the printer using a paper clip or tip of a pen.
