I have a Dyson DC07. The roller wasn't spinning so I cleaned the brush of hair and fibers. That SEEMED to do the trick. But while vacuuming I noticed again that the roller brush was not spinning AGAIN

You may need new belts. Belts lose elasticity from being stretched. The clutch must be removed and disassembled to change the belts. It's easier to replace the clutch. The belts will be tight and It's difficult without a special tool. While you have the brushroll out pull the shaft out of the center and clean hair and debris from it or replace brushroll if worn or frayed.

I have a eureka and there is alot of hair around the piece at the end of the roller, how can I get it out? I have tri tweezers, knife, etc, but the thingy still has hair and it won't tunr. afraid it wi

Look carefully at the housing. Often there are buttons or clips you can loosen to allow the roller to be replaced and also give you access without removing the belt. Go online and search for your eureka model and look for a user guide or manual, which may also help. Good luck!

Dyson model DC07 the belt controlling the beater bar is not turning but does have tension

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial. There are a number of reasons why your brush roller has stopped moving. General maintenance to your vacuum is crucial and will help it work at peak performance. First things first lets focus on the brush roller. Unplug the vacuum and turn it on its side. Look for any noticeable clumps of debris or hair strands that may be caught in the brush roller. Remove these obstructions, probably best to do so with a scissor if it's hair or long pieces of carpet fibers. After removing the debris try manually rotating the brush roller to uncover other hidden clogs. Another thing to take note of is the condition of the bristles on the roll itself. Are they loose or worn down? These are signs that your brush roller is in need of replacing. While checking out your brush roll you might as well take a look at your vacuums belt. Your belt should be replaced about every three months. After regular usage, the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roller. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. If the belt feels loose then it certainly is affecting your vacuums suction as well as your brush roll not moving at all. Just started use my dyson dc07 it is new but is very noisy after my dc04 broke down.

Your dc04 breaking down is unlikely to be causing the excessive noise of your new dc07 unless you've trying to vacuum up the dc04 with the dc07?? It may be that the operating noise of a dc04 is lower that that of a dc07 however if the noise is excessive then you should get it replaced by the vendor.

Dyson Vacuum, brush won't spin

I just picked one of these (DC-07s) up at a flea market, and even talked the price down since I didn't see the brush spin when i power tested it. The brush will not spin if (1) the vacuum is fully upright (i.e. the handle is all the way up, or (2), if the brush clutch is disengaged. The system has a clutch to engage or dis-engage the brush, so that you don't have it kicking debis all over hard floors. Looking down from the usual vacuum-driver positing, it's on right hand side of the brush/motor/wheel assembly. A (probably) grey cylindrical knob that can be turned toward you for hard floor (no spin) mode, or away from you to engage the brush for carpet. If neither of those works, check that the belt is still attached. Disengage the clutch, turn unit over so you can see the brush. Try to spin it. It should spin freely. Now engage the clutch and try to spin it. If it still spins freely, the drive belt is broken or missing, at which point you'll need to look up the replacement process (not difficult) online and get another belt (or see if it just came loose). The belt is secured under a cross-over piece on the bottom plate for the brush, so it can be a bit of a pain to get to.to check it's still there, so the ease-of-rotation test is easier. Hoping this helps, and good luck!

I have a Dyson I took out the screws to clean it before I opened the canister now I can not get it together again

You're a bit unclear on what screws you took apart to 'clean it'. If you took the canister apart, then this Snapguide page How to Clean Dyson DC07 Canister goes through taking the top section thoroughly apart, and has some notes about things needing to line back up properly, which might help in the event that you're not getting things to snap back together right. I took mine apart solo after picking it up cheap at a flea market, and also recall reassembling the top took a little patience. Good Luck!

Worked well until purchased new thick carpet, now can't push it.cleaned &changed all filters. cleaned brush. tried removing rubber string gasket. no help .

Barry, Most vacuum cleaners will not roll well on real thick carpets. There are only a couple of vacuums out there that will work on thick carpet. The Oreck Magnesium models and most of the Miele vacuums will work on thick carpet and some manufacturers of carpet will tell you to use one of those two brands. Hope this helps!

My dyson just quit working when I plug into electricity it will not come on

This could many things. In order of ease of checking/testing: 1. Have you checked the fuse in the plug ? 2. It could be a cable fault - do you have a multi-meter and know how to test for continuity ? If not, you'll need help from someone how has/can, if not take your Dyson to a repair shop. 3. It could be a faulty on/off switch - same test criteria as for item 2. 4. It could be a faulty over current/temperature cut-out that safe guards the motor - this is in reality part of the motor so very difficult to replace seperately. 5. It could be a faulty motor - there is no easy way to test a motor but if all the other items above are okay, then it's pretty much a given the motor is finished. Motors can be obtained fairly cheaply but require very good DIY skills and tools to fit.

Release button to empty cylinder wont work cant get it off manually

Hello, the canister empty function works by pulling a long plastic rod that moves the catch on the bottom access door. It sounds like either the puller is stuck or that the rod may be broken. If the puller does move upward when pulled, then the later in most likely. You can check by removing the Torque screws and pulling the top section off very gently, because the canister really needs to be opened and removed first, do this outside to avoid a dirt spill in the house, either way I would look for a used canister from another machine, which is really a much cheaper and less dirty option.

Make brushes turn - band is intact but not turning the brushes

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson. Are you able to confirm whether your DC07 includes the brush control feature or not? The brush control would be a round dial on the cleaner head which allows you to turn off the brush bar when cleaning hard floors or delicate rugs. make-brushes-turn-band-intact-but-not-lwqyc41qlbnwv0kthpkl2aqr-3-0.jpg If your DC07 does include brush control, make sure that when the vacuum cleaner is turned on and reclined, the brush control is set to 'Carpets'. The brush bar will never rotate when the brush control is set to 'Hard floors', or when the machine is standing in the upright position. If you're confident your machine is already set correctly but the brush bar is still not rotating, or if your DC07 is a version which doesn't include the brush control feature, we'd appreciate the opportunity to provide further assistance. I'd encourage you to give the Dyson Customer Helpline a call when you have your DC07 easily to hand so we can take you though some simple troubleshooting checks. Periodically my Dyson DC07 stops operating, and then will resume operating after about a 10 minute wait period. Is there a thermal switch or "cutout" if the motor is overheating?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson. Like most Dyson vacuums, DC07 is equipped with a thermostat which shuts the machine down for protection if it starts to overheat. This will often be due to a blockage, and the pre-filter may also be overdue for a wash. The machine will reset automatically after it's been allowed to cool down, but to prevent this from happening again there are a few simple check you can try: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc07/dc07-standard/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-won-t-switch-on-or-cuts-out/my-machine-cut-out-whilst-i-was-using-it/how-to-wash-filters/wand-suction We recommend washing the filter at least once every 3-6 months, using cold water without detergent. Allow the filter to dry completely before replacing it - this may take at least 12 hours. Removing any blockages and washing the filter thoroughly should resolve the issue. However, if your machine continues to shut off after you've tried both of these steps please get in touch with us directly so we can talk you through some additional troubleshooting checks. You can reach us by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).
