Canister doesn't fit tightly on base.

Hi Becky, it's Jack at Dyson. From what you've described, it sounds like part of the machine isn't assembled correctly. This may explain the unusual noise and the change in performance you've noticed, as a leak in the airflow system may occur if part of the cyclone assembly is fitted incorrectly. It's worth removing the cyclone pack and clear bin again to make sure everything is attached together as normal, and nothing is out of place. Keep an eye out for any accidental damage that may have been caused. If you're still not sure after you've given this a go, our experts would be happy to offer some further advice. You can reach us directly by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU). 41064a6e-c983-44eb-9c79-09ff960a9722.jpg

Release button jammed

Hi there,I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14 Animal. If the release button seems to be jammed, you might want to try pulling the wand upwards and away from the cleaner with a little more force than usual, whilst holding the release button down firmly. Make sure you're not standing directly over the handle as you do this. If this doesn't free the wand, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly so we can provide further assistance. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).Kind regards,JackDyson Online Customer Support

Too much suction on smooth surface

Check the wheels on the bottom plate to make sure they are not allowing the bottom to sit flat on the floor. The wheels must keep maintain a gap between the plate and floor or it will suck down like a suction cup.

Dyson animal will not stand up and question...
Posted by madmimi on May 28, 2008
my dyson will not stand up by itself=catch seems to have failed and online instructions from dyson have not solved the problem- can anyone help
my second question is will dyson replace my lifetime hepa filter that is located beneath the debris collector, it is very black and is not washable

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.

In answer to your 1st question, you may want to check with a factory authorized vac dealer who does repair on the Dyson vacuums to see if they can correct the problem, or call the Dyson factory phone # listed below for the nearest vac dealer in your area. 2nd question. The Hepa filter is mostly a wear item and I was not aware of the lifetime Hepa filter and that also would be a good question for the factory to answer, I could not find an answer to the questions and they might be able to clarify the answer to both your questions. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Loud noise when the brushroll is on

Your clutch is slipping, either the belts have stretched or there is sufficient debris in the brush roll end caps to slow it down. Both issues can be problematic as Dyson uses a special tool to lift the drive belt to facilitate removing the brush roll. It looks like this: http://tinyurl.com/dyson-belt-tool if the problem is stretched belts, more than 3 years old, you can get replacement belts but must take the the clutch out and disassemble it to install the new belts. This sounds daunting but any knowledgable service center can do this in a matter of minutes. Conversely, you can purchase a new clutch assembly with new belts but that gets costly. If all else fails, call the Dyson help line, the number is located on your machine and advise them of the situation, they have a a 5 year warranty on some items. Remember all parts of this vacuum are serviceable and don't forget to clean your filters.

My Hoover makes louder noise when the brushroll is

What kind of Hoover is this? There are a few things that will cause excessive noise and vibration such as a worn belt, the wrong belt, damaged end caps, damaged brush roll housing and worn bearings. Inspect the brush roll area. Remove the belt, if you have a spare, check the size. If it's more than 6 months old, replace the belt. Spin the brush roll in the housing, does it spin free or hesitate or not turn at all? If it spins with effort there could be debris under the end caps; if one end cap will not turn there is enough debris to cause the end cap to internally melt to the roller. If you cannot turn the brush roll by hand, replacement is your best solution. You should also inspect the housing where the roller spins, specifically where the end caps sit; look for damage to the slots in the plastic, it the roller will not sit snug this could cause enough vibration to make the sound you're hearing.
