Maybe it's time to replace the cable. Sometimes they get too worn, that inside, the copper wire breaks, even when outside looks good.

Hello Connor, Error 8 could be displayed due to: 1. Faulty cable connecting Panel PCA & Control PCA. Check the cables, it might have been pinched somewhere or may be defective. You may cross check by replacing the same with another scanner. 2. Faulty Panel PCA. You may cross check by replacing the same with another scanner. 3. Faulty Control PCA.
