My Gateway 7405 randomly shuts down. It does not
You might try changing the Power Options (its
in the Control Panel) Properties so that all windows are set to NEVER.
That is, so that it will never automatically turn off monitor, hard
disks or go to standby. Also turn off all the alarms.
This worked for my Presario R3000 running WinXP Sp2 which would shut off for no apparent
reason.
Having said that, you should blow out your fan with compressed air
occasionally. And check that your power cord is OK. When you pull out
your power cord, the battery icon should show operation.
Gateway 7405gx laptop will not load windows .goes
There is problem on the user account, or the hard drive. Try login as administrator. If the problem still occurs you need to reformat your laptop or try the recovery disk or option of your laptop. Or try changing the hard drive. But still, you need to re-install or try the recovery option or the disk.
Gateway 7426 GX shuts down randomly after fan revs
This seems to be a motherboard related issue. I am having the same problems. Some speculate that it is something to do with the cpu throttling causing the cpu to think it's going to overheat and so it shuts off. Others think it's a faulty cpu temp sensor. If you keep the laptop idle (no intense video applications), then it won't do it, but that makes it very useless. Also, make sure both fans work as the system has 2 inside. One seized and ruined one 7426 on me so I got another for cheap and now it's happening.
