Cannot turn on wifi on T400. Intel 5100 card

Is the "broadcast-tower" light on (the leftmost icon on the lite-bar below the screen)? Have you got an available/working WiFi router? Have you been able to choose a network to connect to? My T400 works fine when all the above are enabled..

My ibm g41 won't detect

The first thing you should check is make sure your WLAN switch is turned on. If this is off, you cannot detect any wireless networks. This switch is usually found either on the side of the computer near USB ports, or as a function of the Fn key usually around the F1-F4 keys.

If the WLAN switch is still turned on and you're having problems, run Windows Update and make sure there aren't any updates to your wireless drivers that may solve the problem.

If after running Windows Update you are still having problems, go here and download and install the driver under the heading "Networking: Wireless LAN". The correct driver to download in that section is the only one in the right hand column under the sub-heading "802.11a/b/g, 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter" and is from the 6th of October 2009. This driver may have been missing or corrupted on your computer and that will cause you to fail to find any wireless networks.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa!

Tdos't power on

check your DC connector:

Symptoms of a broken power jack1. If you wiggle the power cord or the AC Adapter connector on the back of the laptop, the power LED and battery charge LED start to flicker.2. Battery will not charge in the laptop.3. Laptop runs fine off a charged battery.4. With the AC Adapter connected the laptop appears to be dead. No power LED or battery charge LED activity.5. Laptop randomly powers off without any warning.

If your laptop is out of warranty, then you can fix the problem by re-soldering DC-IN jack on the system board. If it's still under warranty, it would be fixed at no charge to you.

Can i run sata drive with an adapter

No because the ThinkPad has not motherboard expansion slots.
But you can use an USB SATA hard drive adapter case and connect it to the laptop's USB port. The laptop will see this as an external storage device.

Need hard drive what type can i use pata or sata

Your model ThinkPad uses a PATA hard drive.
The brand does not make any difference but the maximum hard drive you can install is limited by the BIOS.

I have done something that

On a laptop, if you enable Num Lk (usually by pressing the blue function key Fn and Num Lk), you will enable your numeric keys (as displayed in blue next to the letter). To disable, press Fn and Num Lk combination again (it will 'toggle' out of this mode).

Hope it helps: please vote accordingly!

I formated My computer with Windows XP, and then

The same model ThinkPad can have different types of network, video and audio drivers and unless you know exactly which one is installed in your ThinkPad, you need to download all the drivers and install each driver until you find the right driver.
When you download the drivers, write down the device driver and it’s file name so you have a record of which driver you are installing and which directory the unzipped files are located on your hard drive.
Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEB site - support/download page and download the latest Windows XP or Vista device drivers for your model computer, Use this link: -
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=%2Fproductselection%2Flandingpages%2FbrowseByProductLandingPage.vm&sitestyle=lenovo&brandind=10&validate=true
You can download the various drivers and then you click on and run the various driver files, they will then unzip and expand into a sub folder on C:\drivers Then install the various drivers from this folder (run the set-up file).

I have ibm G41 laptop i formatted my inbuilt os

Hi, During the boot at the THINKPAD SCREEN press the Thinkvantage key ( Blue button ) it will launch rescue and recovery and allow you to reboot factory. This only works if you did not corrupted/deleted the rescue and recovery hidden partition on the HDD. Otherwise you will need the rescue and recovery CD to proceed. IBM/Lenovo support should be able to provide you the CD. thanks and have a nice day J-

My G41 will not boot unless I apply pressure on

When you say that you are applying pressure to your video card, am I correct in assuming you have your laptop open and pressing on the integrated video chip on your motherboard? If so, then your video chip has come partially out of it's socket on the motherboard. This is an increasingly common problem with laptops. The cause: your laptop gets hot from use, even though the CPU fan is working, and the heat builds up to the point where some of the solder gets soft or liquefies just enough for the pins of the GPU to come out of there sockets. There are several way to try to fix this problem, if in fact your chip has come partially out of the motherboard. If you do this yourself and you're not skilled in this area, there is a chance of completely ruining your motherboard. On the other hand, having a proclaimed professional do the repair may cost you just as much as purchasing another motherboard off of ebay. ANYWAY.....you have to completely disassemble your laptop to remove your motherboard, get a hair dryer and use it to heat up your GPU (Video Chip), Do this slowly or you'll over heat your board and it will be junk afterwards. Heat up the area of the GPU on both sides of your motherboard until it gets pretty hot. Then use something to press the GPU back into it's socket (Flat-head screwdriver or something of that nature). Be sure not to press so hard that you ruin your GPU or other motherboard components. While pressing on the GPU, cool off the area by switching your hair dryer to cool, if it has that ability. Or just slowly move your blower away from your motherboard, then just let the motherboard cool down to room temperature. Replace motherboard and reassemble laptop. There are times when this doesn't work, or that it only temporarily resolves the problem. If it does resolve the problem, then I would suggest using a laptop cooling fan to have running under your laptop while it's on. It will help to keep this from happening again.

My Thinkpad G41 does not boot up, nothing comes up

Hello

Have you tried swapping out ram modules? This would probably be the cheapest. And, a faulty ram module gives a beep code. Try it, and let me know.

Kind regards
