If you are getting different problems at different times, they you have to start handling things slowly to exactly pin point the issue. It will be great if you can also document the error messages, when you get it, the windows version you are using etc so we can provide you more accurate steps and identify the exact issue.
First if you are using windows XP restart the computer in safe mode and try using it (if you wanted to use internet - wired) then restart the computer in safe mode networking.
Procedure to restart computer in safe mode:
Restart computer, keep tapping F8 key on the keyboard, instead of going to windows it will show up a windows advanced boot menu, where you need to use your up or down arrow key to navigate the control to Safe mode / safe mode with networking and hit enter key. this will show some commands / text on your screen and take you to safe mode.
Try using your computer in safe mode and see if your computer is giving you any error or if it freezes. If it does not give you any trouble in this mode then you computer is good, it should be the additional programs running in the normal mode that is creating the issue. we need to diagnose further to find it.
If it is freezing / gives your error message in safe mode itself, then there should be a problem with the hardware of your computer, we have to find out by eliminating the hardware one by one.
Do not worry, we can work together pin point the issue and we will help you to resolve this issue.

The same model ThinkPad
can have different types of network, video and audio drivers and unless you
know exactly which one is installed in your ThinkPad, you need to download all
the drivers and install each driver until you find the right driver.
When you download the
drivers, write down the device driver and it's file name so you have a record
of which driver you are installing and which directory the unzipped files are
located on your hard drive.
Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEB
site - support/download page and download the latest Windows XP or Vista device
drivers for your model computer, Use this link: -
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=%2Fproductselection%2Flandingpages%2FbrowseByProductLandingPage.vm&sitestyle=lenovo&brandind=10&validate=true
You can download the
various drivers and then you click on and run the various driver files, they
will then unzip and expand into a sub folder on C:\drivers Then install the
various drivers from this folder (run the set-up file).
