Hi,
If you are talking about the Boot, HDD, Bios password, then the only one way to recover it is to implement a chip on the systemboard to shorcut the protection or to contact Lenovo for a systemboard replacement.
Otherwise you can check out theses 2 tutorials, with few skill you can make it yourself:

Thanks and have a nice day

Need a pc card for wireless internet connect
You can order pretty much any PCMCIA Wireless network adapter. If the machine is older, you may want to try the "802.11g" or "802.11n" wireless notebook network card.
Try Belkin F5D7010, it uses the "g" signal band.
I can't figure out how to set my hard drive as
Hi Donovan,
In order to save you a lot of time and trouble, I wonder if you might comment me back as to what you are trying to accomplish. Answering a these questions will help too.
- Please confirm we are talking about a thinkpad.
- How many hard drives do you have
- Does the machine boot
- Does your CD work
If you have one drive and it boots, its master
Unless you have two Hard drives, the master / slave is sort of moot. There is also the CS option. This is why I need additional info.
Best regards,
Mike

Check the energy save settings and see if the monitor is set to shut off after a certain amount of time. Also if the laptop battery gets low it may start to turn off the monitor to save energy. Are you using the computer on a/c power or battery power when this happens? As far as fan controls the settings are usually in the bios but you can sometimes install software that will control the system fan. The BIOS system menu is usually available by pressing delete when the computer boots up(some computers are different button).
I loaded a new, formatted IDE hard drive into an
Hello,
If IDE drives are hooked to the same controller one must be configured in BIOS as Master, and the second as slave.
If there is only one drive, it should be set as master: Two drives on two different controller must be both defined as master.
Hope it helps.
I need to format an HDD for an IBM thinkpad 570e
Before formatting the drive ....
you will need to save your drivers on a cd/dvd disk if you dont have the original disks
Formatting the drive should be straight forward,
remove it from your machine and take it to another computer,
your IBM Thinkpad should be staight forward to reinstall even without taking your drive to another computer,I found this step easier tho....
after formatting this drive you could just insert to your machine and then reload your software from the beginning providing you have your disks,
You might have a password locked hard drive and or your bios may be locked also ,in this case replace the drive after which your new os install should give you access and functionality,
update your drivers on the internet and SP2 updates will give you hi speed usb 2.0 functionalilty.....
Good luck with the formatting,if you need help let me know,
have a great day

IBM 570E Notebook password locked
The olny way to clear a password is to take out the CMOS battery and rejump some jumper settings on the motherboard. In a laptop, this can be very tedious and difficult. I would suggest unless you have extensive knowledge in taking these apart, take it in to a repair shop and have them do it. I don't know where you live at, but around this area I charge aobut 25-40 bucks for a laptop to reset, depending on the model. Older models are a little cheaper because they are easier to get at. You could attempt it yourself, but please do not try this unless you are very comfortable with what you are doing as you could render the laptop into a giant paperweight.
Screen comes up blank(white) when I turn it on.
It could be a faulty cable; if it is try ebay. However, it may just be that the cable has come loose off the motherboard where it plugs in at. I bought a laptop on ebay for $50 because "the screen wouldn't work" and reattached the cable and it worked beautifully.

Once you install the OS, you can go to Lenovo for the drivers:

IBM ThinkPad 570E Internet Problem
This is going to be with the machine, yes, too old. These machines take a 16 bit wireless card which is almost impossible to find since they stopped making them 6 or 7 years ago, and 16 bit cards were never produced by cellular providers, so a cellular card is completely out of the equation. The cards on the market today are a 32 bit card. I know you're trying to go wireless, but if you want to connect to high speed, you can use a bus port ethernet card that will allow you to plug an ethernet cable into the machine.
How to dissassembled IBM thinkpad 570
The keyboard is held by two screws on the bottom of the machine, then you just need to work it up ay one side and off. I've had a few that the keyboard was stuck, and had to pull a little harder to get it off. When
separating the plastics, there are a few hidden screws under black sticky pads, 4 at the front of the machine that I can think of right off hand, make sure you get these. Once you get the keyboard off, just take your time and be sure to remove all visible screws. Here's a link to some IBM service manuals. Couldn't find one for the 570, but the T series have the same basic design. Look over the manuals, they should be able to give you a better idea of hoe they come apart.
