My T20 will not boot up. Sometime it appears to have enough power that it shows the 0190 Critical Low Battery error then crashes. With another laptop I have confirmed that the A/C Adapter works. I've tried to charge four new batteries in the T20 but they do not appear to charge.
On another post a recommended solution for this same problem was to replace the CMOS battery. I have not tried this yet and I'm not sure if this solution worked for the other person.
Your help is sincerely appreciated.
i know what the error is what it is is a wire labeled "MAIN" has disconected to fix it you need to put the wire back into the tiny slot in right bottom corner of the right hole
i had the same error and just fixed it like 2 minutes ago it now runs perfectly

Hi,
Each time my Thinkpad T20 starts it points me to the BIOS where I simply set the Time and Date (which shows incorrectly 00:00 etc.), Save and Exit then all is fine.
Does the CMOS Battery need replacing?
If so, where can I find details of what battery is required and a description of the process for changing it.
Thanks
hi-- no need to take out keyboard turn over laptop and take out main battery, underneath is the cmoss battery in a yellow sleeve, it is in a black square surround with one small screw holding it in place, take out this screw and with a tiny screw driver manouvre the plastic square holding the cmoss battery out of the recess and than holding this square gentlly but firmly pull the cmoss out.beleive me it will come out, to replace just do everthing in reverse with a new cmoss battery in place.eyeball the aperture for the white connector of the cmoss and you will replace the battery.

I went out of town for a week and now my notebook won't start because of this error with the battery. do i need a new battery?
This sounds like a fail safe in the battery has engaged. See if the machine will start without the battery, on the supply only. If you can get it started then put the battery in and see if it will charge or reset the fail safe. Give it about an hour, then shut it completely down and restart it with the battery in. If it won't start at this point, then you will need a new battery.

When I turn on my desktop computer it takes me to:
Dell System Optiplex 170L Series
BIOS Version A05
Secondary drive 0 Not Found
Strike F1 key to continue
F2 to run the sep up utilities
When I strike F1 then windows starts and I am k, I have being doing this for about 3 months to start, but it doesnt feels right.
Can someone explain to me, and if it is a simple solution to this problem, if this means the computer may crash soon.
Any advice will be helpful, TYVM.
Hi there.
Sounds like the boot order has been changed in the bios.
The secondary drive sounds like the CD drive as most laptops only come with 1 HDD installed.
Change the boot order to the primary drive by Pressing F1 during startup when the ThinkPad logo is displayed..
Once in the bios change the boot order, save and exit, the computer will restart and boot from the hard drive, when you get into windows check to make sure that the CD rom recognizes CD/DVD's.
Please post back if you need any more help.
Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!
