I would say check and see thru your Device Manager what audio chipset your mainboard has. Depending on the Operating System, most of the time you can just remove it from device manager by right clicking on the specific audio device and left click uninstall.(Win Vista,7,8 may give you the option to uninstall the driver... This box is unchecked and it does NOT need to be checked as, you are trying to re-install the driver.) After the uninstall is done right click on any other hardware and select scan computer for hardware changes. It SHOULD find your chipset and re-install the driver. Please note if it asks for ANY file to complete installation then your driver is corrupt and you will need to download an updated driver.
IF everything re-installs and you still do not have sound, try bringing up your sound options and make sure that your Wave and PC sound aren't muted or turned all the way down. Hope this helps.

Power the computer down and unplug it. Remove the battery for about 10 seconds. Reverse and try safe mode again.
I installed Audio driver soundmax for my laptop IBM R52 but it is not working also not any voice
Is there red cross on windows sound button? If yes, most likely driver is wrong. You can revert back to old driver by opening device manager -> sound controller -> double click on audio device -> select driver and rollback driver.
If windows sound button is active, open it and make sure that volume is turned on and some speakers are connected. Also check "sound" under control panel to see that devices are enabled
