How to set time/alarm GE Auto Clock Set Radio Model 7-4892A

What I have found with my alarm clock like this one is that you CANNOT be soft on it. When setting the time, hold down the F or R button extra hard. I know that seems odd, but it works!

Snooze button just suddenly stopped working.

The switches on these things don't last forever. They wear out with use, and the snooze button probably gets pressed a lot. Sounds like yours has reached the end of its life. They are the same kind of tactile switches commonly found on VCRs and TV sets, and it is possible to replace them. However, unless you have a spare switch and can do the repair yourself, you would be better off replacing the clock radio. The cost of repair, if you can find someone who even would take it for repair, would likely exceed the replacement cost. Small items like this were never meant to be serviced. Ask around, though. Maybe you have a tinkerer friend who could take a shot at this for you.

Thanks for using Fixya!

Trouble code 1P:G8

I had the same issue. The fix for me was taking it apart and spraying the circuit board down with contact cleaner. My guess is that I ran a humidifier in the room and the humidity caused resistance on a resistor changing by the value.

Error code 9:dd or IP:G8 in GE Clock Radio from 1990s

My GE Clock is from the Mid 1970s and still going strong. Here is the fix, which coincidentally mentions the Fixya Website. He didn't want to register to post a question with the answer.

How to route belts on general electric 3-5672a cassette deck

you can follow these steps:
  1. Open the cassette deck: Carefully open the cassette deck by removing any screws or clips that secure the outer casing. Be cautious not to damage any internal components or delicate parts.
  2. Observe the existing belt placement: Before removing any belts, take note of their positions and how they are routed around various pulleys, flywheels, or other components. This will serve as a reference for installing the new belts correctly.
  3. Remove and replace the belts: Gently remove the old belts, keeping track of their lengths and shapes. Measure the size and shape of the old belts or refer to any documentation that may have come with the deck to determine the appropriate replacement belts. Install the new belts one at a time, following the observed routing from step 2.
  4. Ensure proper tension: Ensure that the newly installed belts have the appropriate tension. They should be tight enough to drive the various mechanisms but not overly tight or loose. Adjust the tension if necessary.
  5. Test and adjust: After replacing the belts, reassemble the cassette deck and test its functionality. Verify that the belts drive the cassette mechanism smoothly and consistently. Make any necessary adjustments to belt tension or routing if the mechanisms do not operate correctly.
If you encounter any difficulties or are unsure about the belt routing or replacement process, it is advisable to consult a professional technician or reach out to a specialized audio repair service. They will have the expertise and knowledge to handle the specific requirements of your General Electric 3-5672A cassette deck and ensure proper belt routing.

GE COLOR TELEVISION AM/ FM RADIO SPACEMAKER no radio connection.

If you are experiencing issues with your GE Color Television AM/FM Radio Spacemaker where you are not getting any radio signal, it could be caused by a few different issues. Here are a few things you can check:
  1. Check the antenna connections: Make sure that the antenna connections are tight and that there are no loose or damaged wires.
  2. Check the antenna: Make sure that the antenna is properly positioned and that it is not damaged.
  3. Check the tuner: Make sure that the tuner is functioning properly and that it is not damaged.
  4. Check the audio settings: Make sure that the audio settings are correctly configured.
  5. Check the audio output: Make sure that the audio output is not muted or turned down.
  6. Check the power supply: Make sure that the power supply is providing the correct voltage and that it is not damaged.
  7. Check the signal: Make sure that the signal strength is strong enough to receive radio signal.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, I would recommend contacting GE's customer support for further assistance. They may be able to provide additional troubleshooting steps or may recommend a qualified technician to repair the unit.

Model No 7 - 4897A. The alarm times are set but alarm doesn't sound?

I was hoping I could find a manual, but it looks like an older clock radio, probably the same as mine! Some have a second step that after setting the alarm, you have to press a button or slide a switch. Mine has Off, Radio, Alarm On (sounder only), and Alarm by Music. https://www.google.com/search?q=Model+No+7+-+4897A+manual ..

Need to learn how to set the time and alarm for GE 7-4852A.

To set the time, make sure that the radio is Off; use the left-most button if the radio is on. Use the Fast Forward, Forward and Reverse buttons to get to the current time. These buttons are on the right of the snooze button. The AM indicator will light when the current time is between midnight and noon. To set the alarm, move the switch for that alarm to the Alarm Set position. Then use the same fast forward, forward and reverse buttons to reach the time for your wake alarm. The manual for the GE 7-1825 is available at ManualsLib: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/138580/Ge-7-4825.html . It's easier to read when you download the PDF. That requires dealing with Captcha. The suffix indicates the clock radio version; the manual is the same for units. I hope this helps. Cindy Wells
