The battery is definitely your chief suspect. It's nearly 8 years old so is well overdue for replacement.

Did you try going to the SONY web site, locating your camera model there, and then downloading the camera's software that way? This is done often for many things when the original CD is missing or defective...and it's usually free.

use the cam to hook to your cpu with disc in the cam.

Each time you execute finalization, the disc remaining space will decrease by approximately 13 MB. If you don’t have enough room, it won’t allow you to finalize the disc.
To finalize this disc, you have to delete some pictures to make enough space. But don’t worry, before you delete those pictures, you can save them to your computer.
Find out the CDs came with your camera, refer your manual page 51 - 61 to install ‘PIXELA PTP Manager’ , connect your camera and computer with USB cable, and copy some pictures to your computer, then delete the pictures on camera side. If still not enough room, copy more and delete more. make it enough to do the finalization.

camera is not not recoginising the battery may there be a battery type mismatch or battery type is not provided correctly in the software of camera

think you might need a new battery if it works on power then the battery obviously dead good luck

Your camera is set at a high resolution and/or large megapixels. What size card are you using? Check your camera's settings (Fine, RAW or maybe Good, Better, Best). Also, check to see what megapixel setting your camera is using. My guess is you're using a 5MP or better settings with a FINE (or equivalent) setting -- and a 256Mb card. Am I close?

i agree with the first person. you cannot over fill a disk otherwise there is not enough room to finalise it. or does it do this with all disks? try resetting the camera on the bottom and set it back up. if you put your disk into a computer with a cdrw you can open the files from there as long as you have the dowload software installed on the same computer. just do not try to open or veiw the last photo otherwise it mayu lock up your computer.

did you by chance cover the flash at any time before it quit working? if so and you covered it closely then you burned out the elament. i did the same thing to my old mavica. it would flash when i didn't want it to so i covered it just to burn it out.

have that opened up in a service center and tell them that you dropped it. they will tell you that the sensor is busted. that will have to be replaced. hope this helps.
