This is a crazy fix but I can assure you it works, turn the camera off and hit it and then turn the camera back on, I had the problem and heard the fix and tried it as I had nothing to loose the camera was not working anyways an it fixed it error cleared.
You will laugh when it works.

Are you using the same lens as you did on the old camera? Could be a lens rather than a camera problem.

If you wish, we can tell you a normal procedure. However, that might not help you because even a small mistake can lead to many bucks. You need to have proper diagrams in order to fix this. No one would be able to offer you all diagrams except the service manual for your model.

There are so many sites who would claim to offer schematics and service manuals, However either those are totally Fake or sometimes too costly.

Oops. You should know, putting the wrong voltage on a electronic device, can cause serious damage. Just one volt more, can be 20 or 30 percent too much. And that can cause lots and lots of damage. Try to remove the battery, and check if the battery is still o.k.. Use a multi meter, to check if the voltage is just a little above the voltage printed on the battery. Try charging the battery on an external charger. And shane charged, try if the camera works. If not, I'm afraid only a Sony certified repair centre can help you. And I think I can cost you. Because they know when the damage is caused by an over voltage. Lets hope you don't need Sony. Success

Perhaps your computer driver, or the computer software is damaged? Try to reinstall the software that came with the camera.

The flash on my camera does not fire at all. I have reset the camera but still no response. I further do not get any warning signs. The flash opens as normal but no flash. Is it possible that the flash tube is blown?

Hi, mine was doing the same, no flash, after I dropped. I reset it with the little hole next to where the memory goes and it worked! good luck!

On the Sony website it says 4G is the maximum "capatible" size. However from my understanding about the description, 4G is the file size limit on the FAT32 format, the camera should be able to use 8G card. Puls 8G cards often provide higher speed. If you wanna be safe, use 4G, if capacity is an issue, use 8G

The lens thred is 58mm on F828, however a 58mm lens hood does not work; I have both a reverseable and a regular 58mm flower hood that extends 1/2" to the front of the lens causing dark corners on 28mm focal length. In addition, the lens itseft has built in receiver for hood as labled in the manual, I am thinking to get a 62mm or 60mm reversable hood and match up with the receiver on the lens
