I recently obtained a used Quantaray for Nikon 500mm f8 f/8 Mirror lens. I have a Nikon d3000 and I am not sure how to attach it to my camera.

For Nikon AF and manual focus SLRs. The compatible T Mount System makes it possible to use most any single lens reflex camera in combination with various front camera attachments such as telescopes, mirror lenses and slide duplicators. The T Mount is a metal connector that screws onto the compatible front attachment and allows this combination to be coupled to the SLR camera lens mount.

Although I'm unfamiliar with the lens which you have, many generic mirror lenses like yours use a T-mount adapter which screws onto the lens to provide a suitable mounting for your camera body.

Check the converter, it probably has the T-mount screwed onto it.

Hi there my D40 doest want work with this lens its

It seems perfectly fine. The lens lacks the circuitry to work with the meter on the camera, and thus must be used in Manual mode. The meter does not work, either, with this lens.

Nikon d40, t-mount adapter, showing error no lens attached.

You'll need to switch to M (Manual) mode. You won't get any metering through the lens, nor will you get any autofocus.

I am looking at a 400/640mm preset lens,

Pre-set depending on the model, can be fixed aperture, and or fixed focal length. You have to read the spec sheet to know, or call the dealer.

I have a fixed 500 mm / F8 mirror lens. It is refered to as a fixed lens, because nothing is adjustable. I have aperture and filter drop-ins to do the equivalent of some adjustments.

Auto focusing problem

Your camera is only compatable with AFS-type lenses because it has no screw-drive motor.  You can only use AFS Nikkors and Sigma HSM lenses (the lens actually has a motor inside).  You were misinformed.  Bring the lens back and ask for a refund. Take that money and purchase a compatable lens somewhere else.

The focusing ring is hard to turn on my 28-200 quantaray lense for my nikon camera

Time for a CLA. The focus mechanism will is usually filled with grease, makes it smooth turning, if that grease separates it can make things difficult. Also, it could be something is misaligned with the helicoid. Here is a YouTube video that will explain how they work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_Lji91nIos

How can I get my cracked Quantaray lens repaired

Sorry, you have not said where your country of origin nor which lens needs repair, thus we cannot make any suggestions. There are numerous repair shops around the world. Doing a Google/Bing/Yahoo search will provide you repair shops; one may be close to you. Also, depending on the lens you may be better of replacing it with a more updated better quality one; just a thought.

Hello, I own a Quantaray 28-90 MM zoom Macro lens. I would like to know its equivalent Nikon lens, which would be one of the following: 1) D or G type Nikkor 2) CPU Nikkor lens other th

I'm not sure why you want to know this. It is a lens fitted for a Pentax camera. Nikon does not make a 20-90 mm Macro lens. Then it has a aperture from 3,5 to 5,6. It never would work on a Nikon, unless you have an adapter and then it still only could be used in manual mode. You have to do all settings, manual. not only the focus, but also the aperture, shutter time and ISO settings. I use a Nikor 24-85 mm f 1:2,8-4 D Macro, 1:2. With this lens when in focus the object is only half the size of the original. I think it comes close to the 28-90, but it is at least 5 times as expensive. When you are really in for macro photography, you better choose a prime macro, like the 40 or 60 mm from Nikon. both are 2,8 and not as expensive as the zoom version. The results will be much sharper. When you are talking of equivalent, I don't know what part should be equivalent, because that is important to know. As long as the focal length is the same and the aperture, you can make the same perspective pictures on the same distance. Only when you buy a DX, or even e lans for a four thirds camera, still the focal length will be the same, but as soon as you put these lenses on a camera with a larger sensor you will get massive vignetting. A lens made for a full frame (35mm) camera, when used on a DX or four thirds camera, will give the same perspective and will give no vignetting on a camera with a smaller sensor.

Looking for a lense support for a quantaray 75-200 mm lense

what do you mean, lens support? - a 75-200 is not usually long enough to warrant this, if you mean a support bracket to mount the lens to a tripod, instead of a camera mounting point? btw - sigma made all or most of the lenses for quantaray, so you might try looking this one up that way as well.

How can I find out the settings available on a Quantaray 70-300 mm zoom lens?

Quantaray has made several different 70-300mm lenses so I'm not sure exactly which one you have. However, if the lens doesn't have a AF/M switch it's no big deal. Assuming it's an autofocus lens, it's always on. If you want to switch to manual focus, flip the switch on the camera body. If it's an older manual-focus Quantaray lens then the question is moot.
