Emerson Smartset Clock Radio - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Wrong time on Emerson Smart Set clock
This is a problem with the clocks tuning crystal. Digital clocks have a crystal that is tuned to run at a certain frequency to keep the clock working correctly. These clocks have a problem with that crystal keeping the frequency locked at the correct working frequency. This problem will sometimes cause the clocks to run fast due to a running frequency higher than the regulated frequency and sometime slow due to a running frequency running lower than the regulated frequency. The only way to fix this problem is to either adjust the crystals frequency to the correct frequency and lock it. Or change the crystal. Both these types of service require tools and test equipment to fix the problem. This is usually best handled by a service center. The Emerson customer support telephone number is 1-800-898-9020. Give them the make and model number of your clock radio and ask them for assistance. I hope this information helps you with your problem.

How do you correct the daylight savings time
If your clock changed to DST late then it's hardwired for the old changeover schedule - and there's no way to reprogram it. All you can do is reset the time manually or change your time zone setting to "fool" the clock into displaying the correct time. Either way, you're going to need to reset the clock as many as four times a year to keep the correct time. The ultimate solution is to replace the clock with one that's set up for the new DST schedule.
Radio/tuner reception
You will need to buy a signal amplifier antenna. One that doe not have to be connected to the Clock/Radio. It will provide the amplified signal and the radio antenna (the a/c line cord and the back of the clock/radio) will be able to pick up the signal from the amplified antenna.[http://www.radiolabs.com/products/antennas/am-antenna.php] this web link will show you one type of these antenna's. Copy the web link and paste it into the address bar in your browser. It will take you to the website. There maybe other types of these antenna's but this one had the best price. Call the store and talk to them before you buy the antenna to make sure it will work in your situation. I hope this information helps you with your antenna problems.

I have the emerson smartset clock radio. model cks1702. i need the mannuel so i can set it to go off through the week
There are several SmartSet clock Radios by Emerson. Which model do you have? It's possible that you have alarm 1 and alarm 2 both set for weekends (if a two-alarm version). For the SmartSet radio, CKD5811, that I am used to, you can change the alarm mode between Everyday, Weekdays and Weekends. Press and hold the Alarm 1 (or Alarm 2) button then press the Alarm Mode button to toggle between the modes. Then release both buttons. If you press the Alarm 1 button, you will see the current alarm mode indicated by the indicators by the day that are lit. The Alarm Mode button is between the On/Off button and the Alarm 1 and 2 buttons on the CKD5811. Make sure that you have the Wake to Radio, Wake to Buzzer or Wake to CD slide set for the alarm in question. For Wake to Radio, set your station. For Wake to CD, make sure that the CD in the unit is one that actually plays in the unit (scratches, etc). Also check the volume (although that seems like less of a concern since it does wake you on weekends). The manual for the CKD5811 is here:

http://www.emersonradio.com/owner_manuals.php . Scroll down in the drop down menu for the SmartSet manuals (clock radios all start CKD). The manuals are in alphabetical order.I hope this helps. Cindy Wells
