Intel Gigabyte GA-8IDX 845 AGPset P4 Skt478 ATX Motherboard, Bulk Package (MBGA8IDX) Questions & Answers
Not run intel motherbord
Are you saying your system is not working? Give more info on what happens when you press the power button. If it's not booting try the steps below. When you plug in the power cord is there any lightswhatsoever on the laptop, where the plug goes in or on the AC Adapter of thepower cord? When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear theDvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for asecond or two? If so the laptop is trying to boot or may have booted, butthe screen is not showing for some reason.Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with thelaptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issuewhen you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous. Most times the problemis with the memory or Video Card. Count the Blinking Lights or Beeps and takenote of their pattern (1 Long or 1 Long followed by 2 Short).Maybe your power cord is bad if you don't get anything to happen whatsoeverwhen you press the power button. And if that's true maybe you wasoperating off the battery the last time you had it on and since the power cordis bad, it was not charging the battery so the battery is drained and the powercord is bad.Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, Remove theBattery, then Press and Hold the power button for 30seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in (leave the batteryout) and hit the power button to see if it boots. If it does, you can putthe battery back in and let it charge.Maybe your DC Power Jack which is where the power cord plugsinto the computer is bad. Take an ink pen and push the tip inside thejack and see if the little pin wiggles, if so the jack is bad. You'll have totake the laptop apart to fix it. Most times it is soldered onto themotherboard, so you will have to desolder the old and solder a new one.Maybe your memory is bad or the memory slot is bad.Remove the Power Cord, Open the Case and remove one of thememory chips. Set the chip aside then try rebooting the computer. If it boots, then you know the memory chip you set aside is bad so mark an x onit with an ink pen. If it fails to boot then move the chip to the nextmemory slot and try rebooting. If it fails take the chip out and set itaside, then put the other chip in and try booting it in both slots. If itboots, just to verify that the chip set aside is bad, mark an x on it and putit into the open memory chip slot and try booting.
I want to upgrade my

I want to install win xp in my laptop cq60-104tu
hi there is a way of doing this but its a bit of a pain, you will have to create a customized windows xp disk which is quite involved, i had the same problem as i have a new laptop and it had vista on it but i preferred xp you have to get a program called nLite that you can create a image file of the original windows cd and then add your laptop specific drivers for the sata controller as i gather this is not a very old laptop such as mine, windows xp does not recognize sata drives as boot drives, you can download your drivers from gigabyte and insert them into the windows disk image, there is comprhensive instructions in nLite on how to do this, and it is quite simple even for someone with hardly any computer knowledge....hope this helps
Hi i got vista business
First boot your computer with that vista disk.
This error comes when there issue with hard disk indexing.
For fix this issue if you not need any data on hard disk then delete all partition then turn off computer for 5 minutes then again create new partition and then install new vista.
Try above 4to 5 times then it works .
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.
Install xp on vista home basic toshiba satellite L-40
Yes, Vista Home Basic is junk!
1.Vista is considered an upgrade, compared to Windows XP. Therefore, Vista is not just going to let you install over it.
2.You have to get your Windows XP drivers back.
This is a pretty intricate operation, but once you have detailed information, it becomes do-able.
Below is a link with detailed information, and concise clear illustrations. I felt it would be better to give you this link, to avoid any confusion, and/or misunderstanding of information from me.
Should get you on your way!

Hello amanoj65,
I'm not sure that 845 is the right identification for that motherboard, but Gigabyte has a terrific site for downloading
HERE. You will need to answer a few questions about the motherboard but I'm sure you'll find what your looking for.
Good Luck and don't forget to leave a rating.

Cannot change cmos settings.
Try this.
Open case somewhere on motherboard will be (reset BIOS) or word to that effect. it will be a small 2 pin connector with a jumper on 1 pin connect the jumper across both pins for 30 seconds remove jumper fit back over 1 pin (not get lost) reboot your BIOS should have reset to default hope this helps post comment if does please
How long does the Intel i7-930 processor expected to last?
The best way to prolong life of a computer is to blow out dust from the case and cooling fins and power supply regularly, at least every year. That prevents overheating - a primary cause of component failure. Do not overclock.
Do periodic full disk backups and intermediate new file ones. Leapfrog between two external disks. They are cheap. Protect them from fire.
Laptops - same story,, do not block cooling holes by putting on a blanket while lounging. And turn off machine before blowing out dust. Do not use full PSI compressor air! maybe 20 PSI...
Intel D865GVHZ Motherboard won't boot into anything but will turn on
If your Intel D865GVHZ motherboard is not booting and you've tried replacing the CMOS battery, resetting it, reseating RAM, and changing the PSU, it may indicate a more serious hardware issue. You should consider checking the following:
1. Check the monitor: Ensure that the monitor is functioning correctly by trying it with another computer.
2. Check the connections: Verify that all cables, including the power and video cables, are securely connected.
3. Inspect for hardware failures: Check for any visible signs of hardware damage or loose components on the motherboard.
4. Test with minimal hardware: Disconnect all unnecessary peripherals (e.g., external drives, graphics cards) and leave only the essentials connected (CPU, RAM, power, and monitor) to rule out any conflicts or faulty hardware.
5. Try a different RAM: If possible, test with different RAM modules to rule out faulty memory.
6. Listen for beep codes: If your motherboard has a speaker, listen for any beep codes during startup, as they can provide clues about the issue.
7. Inspect the CPU: Check the CPU for any damage or bent pins, and ensure it's seated correctly.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it's possible that your motherboard or other critical components may have failed, and you may need to consider a replacement or professional diagnostics to pinpoint the exact problem.
Smart response technology
Intel Smart Response Technology (SRT) is used for SSD caching to improve system performance. To use it successfully, here are some steps to consider:
1. SSD Compatibility: Ensure that your SSD is compatible with SRT. It should be a SATA SSD.
2. BIOS Settings: In the BIOS, set the SATA mode to RAID (not AHCI or IDE) before configuring SRT. Make sure your motherboard supports SRT as well.
3. Driver Installation: Before enabling SRT, install the latest RAID drivers provided by your motherboard manufacturer.
4. Backup: Backup your important data because enabling SRT involves data migration.
5. Enable SRT: In the BIOS, set the SRT mode to "Enhanced" or "Maximum" depending on your preference.
6. Initialize SSD: Initialize and format the SSD through Windows Disk Management.
7. Install Intel RST: Download and install the latest Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) driver and software for your chipset.
8. Enable SRT in RST: Open the Intel RST software and enable SRT. You should see an option to accelerate your HDD with your SSD.
9. Reboot: After configuring SRT, reboot your system.
10. Verify: Check if SRT is working by opening the Intel RST software. It should show your SSD as a cache for your HDD.
If you're encountering crashes or issues, it's essential to ensure compatibility and follow these steps carefully. If the problem persists, consider seeking assistance from your motherboard manufacturer's support or Intel's support, as it could be related to specific hardware or software conflicts.
