Your microphone must be grounded properly. The mic hang up clip must be grounded. Then, if the programer enabled scan, you press the scan button. Lots of features in the Dealer programming that can affect scan, including priority, talk back and hang time.

I had this happen on a Kenwood and this may be what has happened to you. Take your top and bottom covers off and then you will need to undo the front panel from the chassis so you can tilt it to be able to get to the main dial VFO encoder. You will need to remove the main tuning knob and then remove the encoder and take it apart. What happened in mine was the main encoding wheel which is a very thin round wheel with tons of small slots that break a light beam causing the frequency to change. My encoding wheel glue let the disk come off. The shaft turned but not the encoding wheel itself. Check this first. If you have a scope you could check to output pulse train of the encoder before taking it apart. No pulse train from the encoder could mean the disk encoder wheel is not moving. Good luck. Dennis

The 2300 is Vhf and the 2400 is Uhf. They cannot talk to each other. Not a programming issue, the wrong radio band and it cannot be changed.

Check the battery and antenna. Clean the antenna contacts. If it was reprogrammed, then have the programmer look at the programming. Something was done wrong. Unfortunately, it is easy to make a mistake even with professional software. Nothing is user adjustable or changeable.

Not all devices are VOX compatible. Some audio accessories with inline PTT buttons fall in this category. One thing you can do is be certain to have the radio turned off when plugging in the device. Check your user guide for VOX instructions and double check the compatibility of lapel mic.

Hmph, Kenwood, I had a Kenwood and they still use the same method, there is a small wire from the board to the base of antenna connection, it broke and the RF zapped all its chips. I am afraid you will have to take it a dealer.

Assuming it is programmed correctly, it is a weak, undercharged or bad battery. Transmit takes a lot more power than receive. A beep or no transmit, even if the Transmit light comes on can still mean the battery condition described.
