Cobra 29lx Cb Radio W/clock 29 Lx Lcd Questions & Answers
Problem no squelch noise or speaker like its muted, but can hear weather ok shows receiving and ant ok
Since the radio cannot transmit on Weather bands, there is no need for the radio to detect if it is transmitting when receiving weather.
In CB mode (on CB channels) the radio will mute when transmitting. So... a guess is that it is muting, or transmitting all the time in CB mode. Check for a mic problem by removing the Mic from the radio ... if it receives CB with no mic connected, then there is an issue with the mic. Otherwise, unless the unit is in PA mode (public address mode) it is likely something internal and beyond the scope of this service.
Cobra 29 LX LCD tuneing
brand new out of the package don't need tuning. just turn up the power a bit to 3.8 - 4 watts and modulation set at 95% and you will be fine.
Will a mosfet 520 swing kit give me mor watage to my cobra 29 lx 29 lx
yes , but for the amount you get its hardly going to be worth it.this radio has all kinds of limiters in and it won't let you do one thing without doing this other thing first.A small 100 watt kicker will do a better job and nothing to do to the radio except turn the wattage down so its linier friendly.
Cobra 29 lx chr le rf power output fail
no it didn't fail. the radio is designed not to except any mods without bypassing something . If you don't know what to bypass then leave it alone and turn it back to where it was.
My cb keeps saying antenna warning
The swr is too high. You may have a coax damaged or a bad antenna. Do not operate the radio on transmit until this is resolved or it may damage the radio.
Cb radio troubleshooting why is my cb flashing
My guess would be that the slight increased voltage from the car running also increases the output power. Check your SWR with an external meter and make sure your antenna is properly tuned. If the light does not come on with the car off then you are probably right on the edge of the safe limits for SWR.
Antenna warning light
if you see the red light come on before you even set the swr you already have a problem.set the radio on cal and set the needle at the cal arrow.no unkey the mic . set the meter for swr and key it again.write this # down . go to ch 40 and do the same thing, then go to 19 and repeat. now that you have your readings you need to set the antenna. Now check it again for swr on 1-40-19keep doing this until you get an even reading on those channels.
Cobra 29 lx
without a speaker hooked up to youe PA it wont work.Actually it should be a bullhorn type speaker that can both transmit and receive.this way you should be able to hear yourself talk.
R 58 and driver blown
Looks like a big problem. You will have to find out what is causing the "smoking".. We call that tuning for smoke.
Seriously the radio is being sold around a hundred dollars new..
Cant see display
go to the eye doctor and get an exam.I have a 29lxle and I can see the display ok.discribe the problem in greater detail and someone will answer you. It sounds like a problem with the display pc board.
Cb antenna warning
If your readings are below 0.5 with a dipole that is a excellent swr reading, most fall in the area of 2.0 or higher, you will not harm your RF output transistor, if you are getting antenna warnings see if you can recalibrate it.
I have a Cobra classic 29zLtd.. When you key the mic needle moves a little to the right. When ur close to someone they can hear you when a few links apart they can't .
A manual link is at the bottom of this entry. Troubleshoot the problems you've described:
Meter Not Working:
The needle moving slightly to the right when you key the mic could be due to incorrect calibration. Make sure to recalibrate the meter according to the manual instructions. If you calibrated it differently, that might cause the needle to go against the right side of the meter.
Recalibrating the meter should resolve this issue.
Meter Light Problems:
If the meter light isn't working, consider replacing the LED. Sometimes, a burnt signal meter light can occur. Replacing the LED should fix this.
SWR Meter Not Working:
Incorrect SWR calibration or bumping the calibrated knob might cause the SWR meter to malfunction.
To check the SWR meter:
Turn on the SWR calibrate knob until it keys up all the way at the end.
Switch to SWR mode and key the mic.
If the needle barely moves, turn down the Dynamike knob.
Finally, switch back to S/RF mode.
No Receiving Audio:
If you're not receiving audio, check the following:
Ensure the squelch knob is adjusted correctly. Start with the knob counterclockwise and turn it slowly clockwise until white noise stops.
Verify that the microphone is working properly. You can try a different mic to rule out any mic-related issues.
Make sure the radio is on the correct channel for transmitting and receiving.
==========================================
Calibrating the SWR (Standing Wave Ratio) meter on your Cobra Classic 29zLtd CB radio is essential for optimal antenna performance. Follow these steps to calibrate it properly:
Prepare the Setup:
Park your vehicle at least 20 feet away from trees and buildings.
Close all doors, hood, and trunk.
Choose the Channel:
Select the channel you want to check. It's recommended to test on channels 1, 20, and 40.
SWR Calibration:
On the radio, press the SWR/CAL button until the display shows "CAL."
While pressing the transmit button on the microphone, turn the SWR CAL knob (the last knob on the right) until the meter needle aligns with the "CAL" mark.
Release the transmit button.
Switch to SWR Mode:
Push the SWR/CAL button again until the display shows "SWR."
Read the SWR:
Press the transmit button on the microphone.
Observe the SWR reading on the top scale of the meter.
Ideally, the SWR should be below 3. Lower values are better.
Remember that SWR is a measure of antenna performance, and poor SWR can be caused by the antenna, antenna cable, or installation. Adjust the antenna length to achieve similar SWR readings on channels 1 and 40 while keeping it below 3. Most antennas are adjustable; refer to the manufacturer's instructions for specific adjustments.
