Stuck in drive
Hello
This problem is sometimes caused by a defective brake light switch. It provides power to the shift lock switch to enable gear shifting. There is a TSB for this issue so it can be fixed at the dealer for free.
Thanks for using Fixya.

Idle goes up and down in park and in drive.
Sounds like your EGR Valve (Exhaust Gas Recirculation). I had a 1995 Mazda MX3 and a 1998 Mazda Prot?g? that both had the same problem. The symptoms are as you described them. Check your vacuum lines for a leak first, they too can cause your idle to fluctuate, make your vehicle feel as though it's losing power (horse power) and make the vehicle feel as though it's going to stall when coming to a stop while you're applying the brakes.
Whats wrong just got this car last year
Hello Judy
After scanning your vehicle , one or two trouble codes should be stored indicating a fault with the fuel sending units in the tank. Your vehicle is equipped with a saddle type fuel tank. There is a fuel sending unit in each side of the tank. One of/or both of these sending units is faulty. I recommend that you have both these sending units renewed along with new rubber gaskets and locking rings.
I hope this helps and thank you for using fixya.

Traveling at 70mph today car lost power but got me home will not rev over 2500
Wow, a lot of people have experienced the same problem as you. Look at:
http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Discussion-t42005_ds511688 there are so many reasons why the engine stalls, 1st system to check is the ignition system, if there is no problem there, try to check the fuel system, then the EGR, and the last is the crank shaft position sensor.. RJ ( automotive engineering student). One guy said: " I was on the Hyundai Forum sight and found a person that after numerous attempts to fix the stalling problem, HE suggested they replace the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). They did so and the problem seemed to be solved. I am taking my 2011 Santa Fe in today for the same problem and will mention the TPS replacement. "

What makes my 2009 santa fe gear shift sorta stiff to move
Hi
This condition is usually caused by the transmission gear shift tower
seizing up in the inhibitor switch. To correct this, the gear shifter cable will have to be taken off at the transmission end which is fasened to the shift tower. Then remove the inhibitor/range switch and unseize the shift tower, working it back and forth with antiseize lub. Once the tower is cleaned, lubbed and has free movement, install a new range switch and reinstall shift cable if it is okay. Note: reinstall range switch in the same position as the old part so the start settings for park and neutral are good.
