According to Lexmark,one or both of the CCD lamps in the scanner have failed, or the CCD cable is loose or bad.

This is a hardware issue. Lamp failure - one or both of the lamps failed, or the CCD cable has failed. Check the CCD cable for proper connection and connectivity. If inspection passes, replace the CCD carriage.

Removed CCD ribbon cable, cleaned edge connector and re-connected. Working well so far.

Try the old cartridge and see what happens. If the prin is better you have got a defective cartridge.

Why would you want to change it?
When one FAX connects to another FAX, they "negotiate" the speed and capabilities, so as to guarantee a successful data-transfer.

Check the most obvious things first: Is the network cable attached and are the lights on/flashing Does teh machine have the IP info configured properly or has someone fiddled and messed it up? Is the phone line connected and operational? So many times the cable has got yanked out without being noticed.

Usually you need to access the embedded web server on the printer by typing the IP address of the printer into your web browser address bar. This will open a window that will have all the settings available.
