X2600 printer has EC5 problem
The
error indicates that there is a short in one if the cartridges. Please follow the steps
below to identify and fix cartridge issues:
- Make sure the printer is on.
- Open the printer cover. The
print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless
the All-In-One is busy. Note: If the carrier does not automatically move
to the center, turn off the printer or unplug the printer from the power
source and then carefully slide the carrier to the center.
- Remove both cartridges from the
carrier.
- Close the printer cover.
- Re-brick your printer by
pulling out the power supply - black box behind the printer where the
power cord is plugged in to, and re-plug after 30 seconds.
- When the printer turns on,
reinsert one cartridge first. Close the printer cover and check for any
errors.
- If no error appears, reinsert
the other cartridge. Close the printer cover.
- Replace whichever cartridge is
causing the error to appear with a new genuine Lexmark cartridge. Try to
print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.
Can't print. Lexmark has an x by offline
A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by
resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer
from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and
re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns
on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again
once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on
the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).
If that doesn't help, try the steps below:
- Disconnect the USB cable
connecting the printer from your computer.
- On your computer, go to Control
Panel > Printers and Faxes.
- Delete the Lexmark print
object.
- Reboot computer.
- Re-brick your printer by
pulling out the power supply - black box where the power cord is plugged
into on the back of the printer, and re-plug after 30 seconds.
- When the printer turns on,
reconnect it to the computer.
- Wait until your computer fully
recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers
and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, try to print
a document to verify that the problem is fixed.

Scan to ms words
To scan documents to your computer, you will need the Lexmark OCR scan software which can be installed using only the installation software CD that came with your printer. If you lost the disc, contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for assistance. You may refer to the
Lexmark X6100 Series User's Guide for more detailed instructions on how to scan to your computer using your model.
Why does it smear when
It could be due to low ink levels in your cartridges. Make sure your cartridges have enough ink in them for printing.
You may also try adjusting the print settings to improve the print quality. From your software application, click File > Print > Properties / Preferences > from the Quality/Speed area, select
Better or
Best.
Print quality issues can also be due to dirty or clogged cartridge nozzles. Please follow the steps below to clean the nozzles:
- From the printer operator panel, press Copy.
- Press Options until Maintenance appears on the display.
- Press the right arrow until Clean Cartridges appears on the display.
- Press Select. A nozzle page prints, forcing ink through the nozzles to clean the clogged nozzles.
- Print your document again to verify that your print quality has improved.
