I have the exact same issue, the sporadic on/off issues started shortly after I upgraded to 10.5.8... anyone know of any solutions?

It's a Sonix SN9C102

Forget "Macally". The Icecam is just a rebranding. Macally don't update their software downloads (probably deliberately)

Your camera is ACTUALLY a Sonix SN9C102. Use the driver here:
http://www.sonix.com.tw/sonix/product.do?p=SN9C102%20%28Phase%20out%29

Working fine on 10.6.7

The manufacturer gives the following link to download the IceeCam manual:

Please leave feedback if this was helpful. Thanks.

Plug you camera, wait for a few seconds your operating system will detect the new device and will ask for the drivers, then insert your driver installation disk and look for setup if it doesnt automatically start the installation process. After installation your camera should work just fine. hope that helps.

Hi Stephen, are you using it on a Mac?
if so, just launch iChat, Skype or PhotoBooth and that should turn the camera on automatically.
If you are on a PC then I have no idea.

Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. The reason why you can install or run the Macally Icecam is that the driver is not supported by Mac 10.6 or even Windows 7. You can check the link below fo the driver of your cam.

When you plug in the camera does vista show that new hardware is found and if any lights are on the device do they come on?. Can you see any image of a PC card on the status bar near the time , if you do then double click it and it will open the hardware wizard that is looking for the drivers and if you have internet connected to then it should find the drivers automatically. Were you using this cam with Vista before or Windows XP ? Try installing the driver that is on the CD that came with the camera or download from his location

http://www.macally.com/techsupport/drivers/IceCam_setup.exe

The cam should work without the driver on windows but sometimes it might not find the right one.
