My iball pen drive is write protected i want to format it

I believe that if it is write protected then you should be able to un-write protect it by right clicking it and finding the write protection feature and turn it off. But this may not be what is causing it or may not even have that option but from what I am thinking is there is something that has happened is you may have somehow write protected it not knowing you did and by accident. It would help if I knew the manufacturer and the model and the size so I could research it and find the exact fix for the problem. Thanks, Cody

My iball pen drive is write protected

This seems to be the problem of most of us these days and some of our readers who wanted to know the methods how they can remove the Write Protected error from their USB drives like Pen Drives and memory cards.

What is Write Protected error and why it happens?
In the Write Protected error, we can’t write or copy any data in our flash drives and even can’t format the drive.
There are many reasons that cause this problem, let’s see solutions of them.
Solutions:
• First of all try to locate a small switch (if any, that you may have not noticed) at some place on the drive or memory card reader. This is the prime reason for this error. If there is one, switch it to the other side to turn the protection off.
• Yes I know this problem is also occurring these days without this switch but not to worry. Just download this helpful software form here

http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Hard-Disk-Utils/HDD-Low-Level-Format-Tool.shtml

and run it to execute a “low-level format” on the drive. This software is quite handy and may take few attempts to actually remove the error.
• The problem can also be caused by some virus activity so just get it scanned by some updated good anti virus which may solve your problem.
• BUT if none of the methods listed above solves your problem then your pen drive might have gone corrupted, so just get it replaced.
Hope any of the methods listed above solves your problem.
Update 1:
After the low level format, you may need to “Partition the drive“. Dont worry, partitioning a pen drive means allocating it its File System and Cluster Size that was lost after the Low Level Format.
For that:
 1. Run diskmgmt.msc in Run.
 2. In the disk management window, select the pen drive, right click on it and click on Format.
 3. Now choose the File System and Allocation Unit Size and do not check the boxes below.

Click OK and the drive will be reusable after this.
Update 2 (Better Solution):
Follow the steps in this post and just put the value 0 (zero) in step 5.
This will surely solve your problem now.

The following entails editing the Registry
warning: If you are not comfortable in doing this, or inexperienced with the registry, then don't do it ! Incorrectly modifying the registry can have drastic effects on your system.

Start->Run-> Regedit
Expand: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlStorageDevicePolicies
(Note: if this key doesn't exist, then disregard this option, and close Regedit)
Double click on the string 'WriteProtect' and change the 'Value Data' box to '0'
Close Regedit, and Restart

Try searching other problem first as this problem is quite common, if none of this works, you'll need to take it back to the retailer because it is broken, this is quite common too.

My pendrive is write protected

If you mean a USB storage device then by "pen drive" then go to computer, right click on it, choose format, then leave everything as default, name what you like, and select quick format.
Note: This will destroy all data on the drive. Please make sure you have backed up everything you want to keep.

My macally icemousejr. quits working,

Hi,

Thank you for the detailed description of the issue.

As you said that the light goes off on the mouse, it is loosing power.
I suspect it is the mouse going bad.
Since both the USB ports have been used, there are reasons to suspect that the mouse is going bad. It could be loose or broken joints in the mouse.

You might want to try the mouse on another machine to isolate the issue and be completely sure.
Then you can get a new Mouse for your MacBook.

If this doesn't work for you, please comment and let me know, and I will be more than happy to assist you to further resolve your issue.

I will appreciate your feedback and positive rating for this solution.
Thank you.

How to turn off macally scroll lock

Click on the Apple menu in the top left corner of the screen.
Select "System Preferences" from the dropdown menu.
Click on the "Mouse" or "Trackpad" icon in the preferences, depending on the Macally device you are using.
In the "Scroll & Zoom" tab, look for the "Scroll Lock" option and uncheck it.
