Tappan TGF320 Gas Kitchen Range - Page 6 Questions & Answers
I have a Tappan TGF320
That pilot that heats the safety element pictured lights off a standing pilot (constantly on) or a small glow coil. If the glow coil does not glow, it will not ignite the pilot flame.
If there is (or should be) a constant burning pilot flame just above the larger actuating flame that heats that element is not burning or will not light, the orifice is clogged. Smaller constant on flame will be located on the pilot assemble as will be the very tiny glow coil, which ever system is used.
I'm trying to light my tappan oven...can't find
Your oven doesn't have a pilot,it has a flat surface igniter. If the igniter is bad or not getting the correct voltage, the safety will not allow the gas valve to open. This being said,I will say any repair involving gas is best left to a qualified tech.If its just the igniter its pretty easy to check it with a ohm meter. It should glow bright red when its calling for the oven to ignite.Hope this helps
Oven does not light
If no gas at all is coming from the oven burner, then it sounds like you need a new gas valve. If the pilot lights but the main burner does not then its the thermocouple.
I have an older Tappan gas range. There is a
If you are referring to the top of the oven cavity itself (the ceiling in the oven) you may be describing the flue gasket and flue that is mounted on the top of the oven cavity. The part numbers are 316116600 and 316204401, respectively.
If you are referring to the top panel of the stove directly under the console, and in back of the surface burners, you may be describing the oven vent opening. It is normal for this vent to have oven heat escaping it. That's what it is for. That's also why you do not leave anything on the stove top while baking. There is a vent cover that is supposed to install over the opening. The part number is 316104500.
If the model number is correct, you can refer to pcappliancerepair.com for illustrated parts listings. The flue gasket and flue are listed under the "Body" section as items 35 and 36, respectively.
The top vent cover is listed under the Top/Drawer section as item 25.
Please review the parts listings for clarification. If I have identified the wrong parts, based on your description, or if the model number is not correct, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.
Oven door will not close.
Most oven doors are held in place by two hinges at the bottom. Usually these hinges are not attached but hook into the oven.
Sounds like you need to readjust one or both of the hinges.
Usually can be done by pulling up on the door and pushing the bottom of the door in.
Write back if you have more problems.
My tappan gas oven goes off after 30 seconds.
First check If you have any aluminum foil or protector on the floor of the oven, take that off first because it creates safety and regulation issues.
If that is not it, see if the broiler will stay lit, as this will be an indication of what the problem might be.
If the broiler stays on, that suggests that ignition for the broiler is ok
Even when the ignitor works to light the oven, it is not uncommon that it can't produce enough heat to keep the valve open. You can swap out the broiler ignition and see if that might be the case.
The head if the ignition should not appear burnt, but you really can't tell by that. If you can't swap the
ignition out, if you have a tester, that is the best way to measure
function.Flat ignitors should test at 3.2-3.6, round 2.6 to 2.8. The
valve should test between 2 and 5 ohms.
If the heat is insufficient, the valve will shut down the gas and the
flame goes out. Make sure the connections to the valve are not frayed or damaged.
Check the gas jet holes are clean and free of debris when the flame does start. Pay attention to flickering, sputtering areas and after the jet is cool again, Clean those holes with a piece of wire or some other tool that won't break off in the hole.
Trouble shooting the ignition and doing cleaning is worth it because it is rare for the valve to be bad, and replacement requires technical expertise. The ignition is usually the problem and costs about 25 percent of what the valve would cost. At times, the temp sensor can be the issue, but if that is the case the ignitor from the broiler will not work.
You have not included your entire model number, so I can't give exact instruction or parts. Bring the part with you or make sure you have the full DWA or DUA on the end of your model number. Thanks for your question.

It is quite obviouse to me that your service is not free. You misrepresented your service on line like many websights do.There fore my solution to this problem is to never get you involved with anything in the future. You cannot be trusted to solve a problem, all you did was delay my repair problem with falce hope of supplying me with a solution.Your service may be a good one but I will never deal with people that market their services in the manner that you do.Remember that first impressions are lasting ones, and you have made a bad one.
