yes, I hate motorola hardware, though most likely you dont have a choice because its what the cable company wants you to use.

there is a trick though, if the surf board will talk to a computer then get online with the computer and get your IP address (type "cmd" into a run box and from there type "netconfig") it will show you a bunch of numbers. write down your IP address as well as your "gateway address" and DNS Server. usually something like 192.168.1.XXX for both of them though the dns server may say something differant.

now the tricky bit comes plug your computer into the belkin and the belkin into the router, reboot all network devices (not the computer but it doesnt hurt) get an address from the belkin and go to the service page usually "192.168.1.1" in an internet browser address bar. then tell the belkin to use the same DNS and gateway settings but increase the IP by 100 on the last octal. (just to insure the address isnt saved for something else so the IP will be 192.168.1.1XX

reboot all devices again. it should work. your tricking the surfboard into thinking your router is running talking to a computer that is forcing the IP. (ie network device or linux PC)

If your problem is that you can't remember your router's wireless passphrase, you have the option to restore your router to its factory defaults, Then, afterwards, you redo all your settings from scratch, thus having the chance to specify a new passphrase. To perform a hard reset, press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds. After you release the reset button, you'll notice that its lights will flash. When the power/ready light is solid lit, the hard reset procedure is complete.
By the way, if your router's user manual happens to be missing, you can download it from this location.
Hope you are able to sort your problems out.
Regards, Carlos

Access the setup page of the router by typing 192.168.2.1 in the address bar of your browser.

Leave the password blank.

On the setup page of the router, go to Wireless. Take note of your SSID. You may also change the name of your SSID so that you can easily identify your network.

Then go to Security under Wireless.

Select 64-bit WEP. Type a passphrase then click the generate button.

Take note of the passphrase and wep key.

Then click Apply Changes.

On your wireless computer, you should be able to detect your SSID in the available networks.

It will ask you for the network key, type the wep key. On some computers, simply typing the passphrase works.

I hope this helps!

Are you trying to set up router ?
You can set up your router manually, without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online directly through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem, that means the modem is working fine.
You will need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

That means the wired connection is OK.
Open the set up page of the router check the wireless settings of the router.

most of the time after the wep has been set you are not able to view the wep keys without knowing the keyword you used to genrate them a handy method for getting around this is resetting the router to its manufacturer defaults and reconfiguring it using the default gateway ip address this is done by using a pin and pushing a small button usually located on the rear of the router after doing that hook it up after restarting your modem and computer right click your connection icon in the lower right corner and click properties or network sharing center from there right click your connection and find your default gateway look for the number sequence after the default gateway and type that number into your internet explorers address bar it should prompt your for a username and password by default it is admin admin or admin password this should bring you to your routers settings and enabling wep should be under your wireless security settings

hope this helped
please leave feedback
thanks

There should be a small button on that back of your router that you would hold in for a couple seconds and it will reset. You will need to use a pen or pencil tip to do it.
