No display but have sound
HI
Try resetting the system . if this doesn't work.
"Service" is needed .
To clear the AVR's entire system memory including
tuner presets, output level settings, delay
times and speaker configuration data.
1: first put the unit in Standby by pressing the System
Power Control button
2. Next press and hold the Tone Mode button 8 for three seconds.
The unit will turn on automatically.
this will clear all the proccessor.
Note that
once you have cleared the memory in this manner,
it is necessary to re-establish all system configuration
settings and tuner presets.
Good luck
Kind Regards
Sound from my plasma TV does not work on AVR 235 via optical cable
So much can go wrong. WARNING!! NEVER LOOK STRAIGHT INTO THE LIGHT FROM AN OPTICAL AUDIO OR VIDEO SYSTEM. The optical output could be not working (try switching it on and look if you see a red light) The optical cable can be broken inside) see if the brightness of the red light is almost the same as what is coming out of the TV. Point it to a white paper to view.
The optical input from your receiver can be defect or dirty. The optical protocol can be wrong or the systems are not compatible.
If it ever worked, the most chance is the cable is defect.
Otherwise follow the chain and read what the manuals have to say about how and what.
Front display is totally dark. AVR keeps
Do a soft reset. Turn off the system using the main switch on the back of the unit, then unplug it for 3 minutes. This should fix it.Also consider investing in a power stabilizer as the avr is quite sensitive to power fluctuation.
My unit is in stand by but will not power on
Disconnect the main power to the receiver and let it set for 15 minutes or so, this will allow the capacitors to discharge fully. If the receiver did not suffer transformer damage, it should turn back on. If you don't have a good surge protection unit with line conditioning like Panamax or Furman, get one! It will save you $$$ in the long run. Hope this helps.
Protect -- Shuts off
It could be the speakers are at too low of an impeadance or a bad speaker. Check the bad of the receiver and see if it states the proper type of speakers to use. Most say "8 ohms to 16 ohms "A or "B" and "16 ohms or more "A + B". if your speakers are 4 ohm speakers that is your problem.
Let me know what you find out about the speakers. It says on the back of the speakers where the wires plug in what ohm rating they have.

I have an AVR 235
The failure of the front display indicates that there is a electronic fault.
So you need to check the power supply to the display panel, check the +5 to the processor and siplay drivers including the filament voltage to the display and the negative grid to the display. If not trace back to the power supply unit.
If these are present with no display check the linking cord to the display. Check the parameters of the processor which can confirm if the controller is working. if not you will need help for replacement of the processor and also since this is high densitty boad where service requires jigs and equipments.
