Computer won't recognize my Canon XTi

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries. Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa. Organize edit and share your photos

Canon Rebel flash

The most common cause of the flash not popping up is liquid spillage, especially sticky liquids like Coke. If this is the case, you can work a business card on the right side and move back the latch to pop it up manually. Usually the spillage is on the right side where the large silver screw is. If you remove the screw carefully, you may find rust. Scrape it off with a sharp blade and then apply a light coating of lubricant grease to the screw and the hole. Be careful not to disconnect any springs. There are usually three screws on the bottom of the flash holding on the top cover. Be careful not to touch the wires and flash tube. There can be 300 volts which will cause a nasty shock.

How can I get repair parts for my eos elan 7 Canon film door?

Remove front cover to get to latch. Be careful not to touch the flash circuit as it can have a nasty 300 volt shock. Canon parts phone number: 732-521-7230. They used to take credit cards, not sure if they still do. They are really good about ordering by description.

When I download my pictures

yeah , this is caused by messing around with the settings in the camera and you changed the resolution ..or the aspect ratio ..(for example from 4;3 into 16:9 and ending up with a wider format of the picture..)
The easiest way to get it fixed is to put into the normal mode ..than look in the menu ..and locate reset to factory settings ..or something like that ..It might be called different but it gets it to the original settings removing any personalization ..Find it in the menu ..(all camera has this option ) and engage it ..after that restart it ..and try to see if the new ones got back to normal ..

This is nothing to do with your camera. It is just a characteristic of the software that you are using to view the pictures. You may be able to change the settings of this software to make it frame the pics better, or you could get yourself a better viewer. I like FastStone, which is a free program you can download from the internet. Try searching for it at www.download.com

Says card protected and wont

A film camera is saying this?

Assuming you are referring to a digital camera of some type, take the memory card out of the camera and look at it. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

There's a distinct section on the left hand side

The camera has a sticking shutter assembly. The only cure is to replace the assembly and it's definitely not a DIY job and is not really cost-effective on a 35mm Rebel.

If the body is still under warranty then contact the seller for a refund/exchange.

Shows card write protected..

Hi,

Thanks for using Fixya.

(i) Unlock the memory card.

There is a Lock switch on the left side of the SD card. Make sure the Lock switch is slid up (unlock position). You will not be able to modify or delete the contents on the memory card if it is locked. 9632f20.gif

(ii) Toggle the lock switch.

If the lock switch is not on lock:
1. Slide the switch up and down. Repeat this 3 times.
2. Let it stay on the Lock position for 30 seconds.

3. Slide the switch up to unlock the card.

4. Try to transfer files into the device.
Thanks for using Fixya.
Good Luck and have a nice day.

Problem transfering photos from canon t1i

Your card reader may not be the correct generation to read that 8gb card. Also if you use an AC power supply the camera may like it better since it may calculate that it doesn't have enough power to download that large of a card. I cannot tell for sure since the Canon rebel Ti is a film camera not a digital.

Make sure the battery terminals are clean. Use a pencil eraser to scrub them until they and the battery terminals are bright and shiney. Other wise the camera will need a reapir and possible electronic parts replaced.

My canon eos 300v lcd screen is dead although rest

You can replace the LCD panel but will probably have to get it from a scrap EOS 300 and then work out how to do it yourself.

No camera repairer will touch your model though: it was a very cheaply made model designed and built on Canon's behalf by Kodak. As such it was really only designed to last up to five years and to then be thrown away. They simply aren't designed to be disassembled and repaired so other parts may break during the work and are quite literally worthless on the second hand market. When they do sell it's usually to those who make the mistake of thinking they're getting an EOS 300d...

It's not all doom and gloom though; because they're worthless perfectly good functional examples are sometimes available on FreeCycle and can be obtained for next to nothing on auction websites. Usually the only value is in the lens; cheaply made kit lenses are worth peanuts, but sometimes they come with a decent bit of glass which still retains a resale value.

I hope that my reply has given you a few realistic options regarding your camera and that you now understand why nobody else wants to repair it. Please take a moment to rate my answer.
