Use a flashlight and look for a small piece of torn paper. Clean the rubber feed roller with a soapy cloth. Replace the paper with new from an unopened pack as what you have may be damp. Put it all back together and try again.

Switch it off, open the cover and check inside for any small slivers of paper which may be caught within.

I have same PIXMA an had same erroe message. Could not find problem until I removed the plastic an a piece of ribbon paper had worked itself down inside near a tiny button switch. A real problem to get to but it did fix it.
