Download A40 Digital Camera driver

Consider NOT using a driver.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

How do I transfer pictures from my camera to the

images are stored on standard Type I CompactFlash cards. Consider the included 8 MB card a starter capacity, since its 12-picture limit means you'll need to return to your computer often to transfer images and free up the card for more pictures. A 128 MB card is a great size for this camera, storing around 200 images. To transfer images to your computer, simply attach the included USB cable between your PC and your camera. Your computer should automatically recognize your camera and let you move the pictures to your hard drive. Simply click on my computer click on new drive shown in this folder, select all the pictures, copy them and past to your desired location,
you can also copy picture by using card reader, put the SD card in card reader and follow the same procedure

Canon Powershot a40 driver for windows vista

If your camera is not relatively new and you're running Vista or Windows 7, your computer may have problems seeing it. Unfortunately, this can't be corrected because the drivers were not updated by Canon for your camera. But there exists a good, if not better alternative way to download your photos. Please don't take the following as a sales pitch as it's not, but please see this link, as it describes the use of an inexpensive external card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. In fact there are several important reasons discussed in the article for using a card reader vice downloading from the camera. USB Card readers are also very inexpensive these day, with cost virtually not an issue.
