The date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. Is this when you've printed them, or on the camera screen?

If it's when you've printed them you may need to clean the print head of your printer.

You'd do this by going through your printer's 'toolbox', which should be accessable from a menu tree - my one starts with clicking the 'HP Solutions Center' icon on my desktop.

Never try to clean the printhead physically as it just makes the whole thing useless.

If the recharageable battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out.Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles andwill lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and graduallythe charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The batteryshows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops offto zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptablecharge level then the battery needs to be replaced.

You can't charge the A80 by plugging in a USB cable. The cable is for downloading photos only. Assuming that you are using rechargeable AA batteries, you need to remove the batteries and place them in an external charger to recharge them.

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager, and is a known defect for your particular model camera.. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free if you live in the US, Canada, and a select few other countries. If you live outside the US, contact Canon support for your country to see if they'll still honor the advisory (some still will, especially if you stress you knowledge that this is a known defect of the camera). Having gone over a month with no response to my query, I assume my suggestion to use a card reader eliminated the problem.

Using a card reader is the best way to solve this kind of problems
