Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.
Don't know how to set up my camera to take pictues
turn the camera on with the button on top, then take off the lens cap and insert a memory card into the side. The pictures will save to the memory card and you can buy an adapter to connect the memory card to your computer to view and save the pictures.
How do I print a user's manual
You can download the manual from the manufacturer's web site at
http://support.casio.com/manualfile.php?rgn=1&cid=001010067
and either print it yourself or take the files to an office-supply store to have them printed and bound.
What type of battery is
The Camera would work with 4 AA batteries of almost any type. However a high capacity rechargeable battery would be more economical in the long run and you need a charger too. NiMh batteries with capacities of between 1200mah and 2900mah would be fine. The Hybrio type comes ready-charged and retains its charge best on the shelf. Therefore I would recommend e.g.
Four, Uniross Hybrio AA 2100mah rechargeable batteries

Camera is switching off and
Hello
The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel
after dropping it. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the
probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.
Use
these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.
Firstly ,
try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.
Try holding the
shutter button while switching on the camera.
Look at the lens ,
and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then
try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).
Try gently
pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may
cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.
Another
way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and
then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to
not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and
down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the
camera is enough to get things going again.
Try hitting your
camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of
your hand.
Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair
center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to
replace the camera.
If it is still under warranty I would suggest
you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any
off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about
warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.
Hope
the advise is useful.

Andrea
System error ( Oeo1)Appear this message
I had this same problem years ago, couln't fix it in any way. Tried the description on http://www.oborona.net/stuff/qv-r40/eng/index.html (reloading firmware) but even that did't work.
Found my old qv-r40 today, and gave it one more try using the above mentioned solution of updating the firmware. Even though I only did again the same as a few years back (updating the camera with the same firmware), this time it worked. Got my old camera working again!
So I suggest you try the solution by oborona.net, and if it doesn't work get the batteries out and wait for a few days before trying to update the firmware again.
Casio QV-R40 appears dead
I had this problem some years back. Only shooting a movie did work. Seems like the internal settings are messed up or something like that.
I just fixed it by updating the firmware, for firmware download and update procedure see http://www.oborona.net/stuff/qv-r40/eng/index.html

This may not do anything, and you may have already thought of this, but here goes...
1. Take out the SD card if you have one in the camera.
2. Remove the batteries and leave them out for 24 hours. Put in GOOD batteries and DO NOT PUT THE SD CARD BACK IN THE CAMERA.
3. Power up the camera. See what happens.
If you face the same problem then you have to reinstall the fireware from service center. Thanks.
