The EX-P600 is designed to work with SD cards (and microSD cards via an SD adapter). Your 4GB card is actually a microSDHC card and is not compatible with SD devices. You need to go with SD cards (micro or otherwise) 2GB and smaller.

Microsoft updates can make enough changes to the registry that suddenly, our programs or devices no longer work. Use a card reader to download your pics to a folder you create on your desktop.

It seems that you are using an SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) card. It's incompatible with certain older models of cameras. I think the most you can put in your camera is 2GB. I've done some research and it doesn't say anything about your camera being SDHC compatible. Return the card, get a 2GB.

1) If you take out the memory card there will be a small unlock/lock switch on the side of it (that may be the problem?)

2) If step 1 does not work, than it's an internal issue w/camera and you will have to send it to Casio for repair. Here is the link www.ecasiorepair.com. They will charge $39-115 if the camera is not under warranty.

Guys - I know this sounds absolutely bizarre but I recently had this problem with my casio exilim ex p600 (with the lens sticking when powering down and not powering back up again) and it worked for me. Pulling my hair out trying anything and everything, I decided to take the SD card out, turn the camera on (at which point hopefully your lens will go back in) then turn the camera off again, Put the SD card back in and hey presto everything ok! Doesn't make any techincal sense (and I'm semi into these things) but the lens sticking\not powering up and happened to me twice now in last few months and that sequence of events is the only thing I could do to solve it! If that doesn't crack it try taking both the SD card and the battery out and doing the same. Good luck...apologies if it doesn't work for any of you guys but it did work for me :o) Let me know how you get on when\if you try it.

I had this problem and it was because I removed the bezel around the outside of the lens so I could use an extension tube on the front of the camera.

There is a small pin on the front that needs to pressed in. The pin is only visible if the bezel is removed.

That is one of the problems we have seen because it isn't a model that casio recommends using with the camera. Toshiba, Panasonic, and Sandisc are the only models that they have tested and know work so that's what they recommend you use.

Hi . I get this problem too . You need to ensure that the picture setting is Portrait rather than black/white etc as it doesn't work on all modes!

It's probably in PC mode. It still thinks that it's connected to the computer via the USB. It should be somewhere in the set up configuration. If you can't get it to switch back to normal, disconnect it from all power sources(including internal memory button battery if present) in order to reset it. make sure you turn off the camera before disconnecting it from the USB. Mine had the same problem, I sent it back, they had to change out a circuit board, cost $97.00

they changed the camera in the servicecentre, saing that it was manufacturer problem

send it to nearest service center authorized by the manufacturer.

no other intelligent option. ask cost before sending. it might be cheaper to buy new.

Dont think you are going to be lucky here. This is a switching problem and a repair is not going to be a viable proposition. Check out the Casio web site Tech Support- but I fear any repair they will ofer the price will be a good proportion of the next[uptodate] camera
