I have a Palm m100
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP.
1. Unplug the USB cable from the cradle to the pc.
2. Uninstall the hardware in Device Manager.
3. Reinstall the hardware drivers, and reboot.
4. Plug the cradle cable back in, and let it install itself.
4. Try to hotsync again.
Usually, the built-in hardware image on the Palm is fully working everytime, it may also be a dirty contact on the cradle, a bad connection from cradle->usb.
Also, to try solve this try this, check "hotsync" and from the menu clicked on "connection setup". There was none, so I made a new one selecting local Network. sometimes having some other USB devices in other USB port gmay give problems too.

Palm m100 hotsync problem
A hard reset will most likely work, but make sure to back up using a third party application.

Lose data on palm m100
Best way to prevent data loss on palm m100, replacing the battery before it drained completely and replacement must be done in 10 seconds. Another way to prevent keep backup on computer side. You need to use same user profile in order to get previously stored PIM data on computer

Lose data on palm m100
Sync the palm with your desktop, after the new battery is in, sync again, it will put it back...

Static screen
Push the reset button along with the power button. That resets all memory in it and tends to fix the static fuzz.
FYI: The static show on the screen after putting the batteries in backward.

User Guides and Manuals for the m100 are still available on the PalmOne website. If you're interested in downloading free software (like a English or medical dictionaries) check out PalmFreeware.com. Just make sure that the software supports your Palm OS version (Palm OS 3.5).

Hot sync will not complete
do some clean up:
try to unistall and install the PDS, in th einstallation folder (usually c:\Palm u will find a user name folder,, inside this try to rename the backup folder or cut it and copy it somewhere else...

Synchronizing with outlook
... if you downloaded the version of Palm Desktop available on the palmOne website you cannot sync with Outlook. The web version does not include the Outlook conduits necessary to sync with Outlook. You must use the CD included with any newer palmOne handheld/smartphone or buy a third-party utility (such as Chapura PocketMirror)
