Lifedrive won't power on

When you plug the unit into the wall to charge, poke the reset hole in the back of it at the same time. This should reset the internal recharging mechanism in the Palm. Let it sit for a couple of hours and then see if it will come on.

Life-Drive will not power on.

I don't know how much technical skill you have, but I had the same problem and the warrenty had expired. I thought it might be a battery problem. To make a long story short I unpluged the internal battery and pluged it back in and the system came on.

Broken Screen Life Drive

You can get a repair kit here:http://www.pocketpctechs.com/main~unit~Palm_LifeDrive-421~area~repairs-Parts+Only~item~PPC-TOOLKIT01.htm or just use the link to learn what tools you'll need. In parts alone it can reach 200$, you'll have to google for it. There's a chance that you only cracked the touch screen, and not the LCD, which changes the picture, and can cut the cost by more than half. I can attach below a picture of a cracked LCD, and another of a damaged touchscreen, so you can see the difference, just note that it's of an Ipaq, so might not be the same as yours. Good luck

Copying MP3s using Drive Mode.

yes! soft reset and all was fine but looked pretty grim for a moment. Happened to me when i put the SD/LD icons into the trash (mac osx) before I hit the first 'turn off drive mode' page rather than hitting 'turn off' button, then trashing the icons, then hittinf turn of drive mode button. Is this in the manual....nope!

How could I speed up browsing?

Blazer does have a cache, but I'm not sure exactly how it uses it. I did an experiment in an attempt to find out how much of a page it caches, but I didn't learn a lot. I went to a page, then jumped to another, then turned WiFi off. When I hit the "Back" button, the LifeDrive refused to open the page without me reactivating WiFi. Still, I can tell the cache is working. When I go to a site with lots of graphics, the first page opens kind of slowly. However, when I go to other pages on that site that have the same graphics, pages load more quickly. So, apparently at least some parts of a page go into a cache, but you can't view it entirely from the cache. Also, the delay in opening pages is often not the downloading of a page, but the rendering of it once it is downloaded. The cache can't help you there.

Hard reset

1 Hold down the power (on/off) button on your device. 2 While holding down the power button, turn over your device so that you can see the back of it. Still holding the power button, use an unfolded paper clip or a similar small object, to gently press the RESET hole on the back. 3 When the Palm Computing Platform or Palm Powered logo appears, release the power button. 4 A message will appear warning that you are about to erase all the data stored on your handheld.

Frontal buttons pressed through cover

Your problem with the default case is common. Frankly, it is poorly designed. What I did (before I bought a replacement) is switch the power to the locked position when I put it in the case.

Setup Versamail with Outlook 2000

I use Versamail with my web-based, non-work email account (which is what it sounds like you have - web-based at least). I don't sync Versamail, I just use it to dial in to my account and download/send emails.

Lost files - due to soft reset?

hmm, just check your PalmOne folder, see if anything there, i.e., : C:\Program Files\palmOne\\Internal Drive Backup *********************** well, a hard reset should be able to restore to LD new-out-of-the-box state, if you don't need to save any corrupted files in LD drive... But if they are something really important, what you can do is to copy whatever files out to a PC (i.e., via drive mode on a PC), and see if you can recover it with data recovery apps, or better yet, do it straight on the LD drive - although the chance of success is slim. What you described on previous post, sounds like the FAT table has messed up, and seems very similar to a PC HDD failure.

Accessing XHTML Web Pages

You'll need a 3rd party WAP browser (note: not WAP PDA. Both PPC and Palm powered device can do this as long as they have the application for it.) The web browser it comes with I don't think it is WAP compatible. Though I have no experience with any of them, I'm sure there are a few out there as shareware/freeware for PalmOS.

Memory and blazer

There are three types of storage on your handheld: the hard disk, an expansion card (if you have one), and the actual main system memory. Are you sure you have freed up the main system memory? That is the only one that counts in this case. If it is filled with programs, move those programs to one of the other types of memory. This is easiest to do with a launcher like ZLauncher. Your memory may be fragmented. Have you tried a soft reset?

Preventing hard drive spindown

SharkCache or RLock maybe cause some reset when you use your LifeDrive. In other word, SharkCache or RLock makes the LifeDrive unstable. It will conflict with some program you install in the LifeDrive. Speed or Stable ? You can judge by yourself.

SharkCache causes reset

SharkCache is not stable enough. Maybe it can lock some programs in RAM, but it have some problems on locking some programs. It causes the data lose or unstable. I have change into "RLock" (write by Resco), it has the same function ,but it is more stable when you use in LifeDrive. The most important is RLock is a freeware and stable.
