Unfortunately, the unlock code for a BB 7290 is unique to each phone. The unlock code is based on the IMEI of your BB. After getting an unlock code then the steps to unlock are:
1. go to options

2 scroll to SIM CARD then press jog dial in once to select it

3. Type MEPD (not case sensitive) ( you will not see text appear on screen while typing )

4. Does it say Network active? if so your phone is locked

5. Press and hold the alt key (half moon looking key on the lower left side)

6. as you are holding the alt key type in MEPE (not case sensitive) ( you will not see text appear on screen while typing )

7. type in the unlock code when prompted

8. After entering the code press the jog dial in

9. Your phone is now unlocked!

Your question is not clear. Is this BlackBerry a regular using one or a new one. Did you try inserting different SIM to it. Does the same message gets displayed for all the SIM.I think your mobile must be locked to any particular network. That is why it displays invalid SIM when any new network SIM is inserted in it.You must find out to which network has your mobile been locked to. recharge it and make sure it has been caharged atleast 5%. then try to long press the power button. if its still not working. try to check if the device is not locked (so also try to press the unlock button) if the above mentioned still not fix this. charge it atleast 10 mins (thus having ample battery) then do a hard reset by taking off the battery and bring it back on after a minute or two.
