I have a Nordic Track Commercial 1300 eliptical that started slipping when we used it. We tightened the belt but it didn't help. What else could be wrong?

Step 1

Remove the screws or bolts securing the ends of the pedals to the crank axles. Slide the ends of the pedals off the axles. Remove any screws or bolts securing the left and right disc shields to the base unit. Pull or pry the disc shields off the base unit and set them aside. Step 2

Remove any screws or bolts securing the left and right side shields to the base unit. Detach the side shields and set them aside. Examine the interior of the base unit and locate the drive belt. Step 3

Pull the drive belt free of the crank pulley, flywheel and any other pulleys. Discard the old drive belt and install a new belt in its place. Turn the crank axles by hand to confirm that the belt will turn smoothly when the device is in use.sincerely. Merry Christmas.ernesto cuadra

1

Remove the bolts or screws securing the console to the upright assembly. Lift the console and confirm that the cable connections are secure. Remove the cover from the console's battery bay and install a fresh set of batteries. Replace the battery cover. 2

Detach the ends of the pedals from the crank axles. Remove the left and right disc shields and side shields. Inspect the interior of the base unit and locate the flywheel. 3

Inspect the flywheel as it turns. Locate the magnet installed on the flywheel. Turn the flywheel until the magnet passes in front of the nearby reed switch. Loosen the screw securing the switch in place. Rotate the switch to reduce the gap between it and the magnet. Tighten the screw. 4

Replace the left and right disc shields and side shields. Reattach the ends of the pedals to the crank axles. Finally tight the flexible cord form keypanel vs display board and then tight the display board vs lower board.See if you can meassure +5VDC from lower board to display board.see the block diagram for your final diagnostic. 12_19_2011_5_43_08_pm.gifSincerely. Ok, your controller is faulty. Double check that your reed switch is connected and adjusted. It is located at the pully on the front roller. It is just outboard of the pully. It points at a magnet that is glued into the plastic pully. It should be about 1/8" away from the pully. If that is ok follow the wire back to the controller, it only has two small black wires, It has a red two place connector that pushes on the controller board. These are rarely the problem. If you are under warranty, get both the controller and the reed switch. If I would guess, It is the controller that is your problem. You should not adjustthese since they are preset. Tension can be affectedslightly by adjusting the tension of the walking belt but if you have a slippingproblem, the drive belt will require replacement. If yourdrive belt is too loose, it will slip on the front roller pulley or the motorpulley. If it is too tight, it will increase your amp draw to the point thatyou may have an electronics or motor problem. Due to this, it is better to beon the safe side and replace a drive belt rather than riskover tightening it. A drive belt is usually $29.99 or less while many parts youcan damage by over tightening can be more than $300.Additionally, too much tension can cause bearing failure in the motor and thefront roller and front roller pulley failure. It is better to err onhaving the belt a little too tight rather than too loose due to the possibilityof injury if the belt slips. Motor Belt Adjustment-Icon Units Do not remove any of themounting bolts to the motorthese repairs will require 2 9/16" wrenches andmayrequire two people to accomplish the repairs Before beginning this repair: Check to make certain that the drive belt requiresadjustment. Check out belt slipping instructions or with the motor cover removed, walk on the belt normally and try to stall the belt to make it slip. Be careful during this test. If theproblem is in the drive belt, eitherthe drive belt will stop when stalled or the front roller will stop whenstalled. If the motor, drive belt, and front roller continue to turn when thewalking belt is stalled, the problem is with the walking belt slipping on thefront roller. If the drive belt continues to turn but the frontroller stalls, you may have a broken front roller pulley. If you need further assistance, please reach me.

Sincerely. God bless you.

Nordic track c2000 belt slips

I would try to tighten the rear roller a little and see if that helps.1 start the treadmill and operate it at 1.5 mph then hild onto the handle bar and plant your foot against the belt at the front. If it slips tighten the roller 1/4 turn on each side. Then try the slip test again and repeat the process, do not tighten it too tight that will cause the belt to fold in teh center and be ruined. You May quite possible need a new belt. Take the belt lose and look at the underside and see if it;s glazed (shinny) or has pieces missing under the center of the belt, if so replace the belt and also clean the rollers front and rear, also flip the deck over it shoudl have a wax coating on the other side if that hasn;'t already been done.
