Error: tone when changing schwinn airdyne computer battery?

I Need Console for 1988 Airdyne
The age of the machine is not as big of a replacement parts hinder as is Schwinn going through so many buy outs since 1988. One of the best exercise repair parts on online is FitnessRepairParts.com. They have consoles which are similar to your generation of machine for 170.00 - 240.00Otherwise schwinn was most recently owned by Nautilus/Bowflex/LAMAR fitness and they may be able to help through their website. Sorry, I don't have a great source of imformation to help with. I repair Schwinn exercise and it has become very hard to find parts recently as the new generation of AEROdynes are very different. Although, up until maybe 1-2 years ago, nothing had changed for 30 years. Alternatively, search craigslist and ebay. You may have to buy an entire unit to get the part you desire. Often they have a drive mechanism worn out which devalues them to the seller, but has minimal to do with your search.Good Luck.
Error 3 (E3) on Schwinn 240 recumbent bike. How
No speed/RPM reading, Console displays

Check data cable integrity All wires in cable should be intact. If any
are cut or crimped, replace cable.
Check data cable connections/orientation, insure cable is connected securely and oriented properly. Small latch on connector should line up and snap into place.
Check magnet position (requires shroud removal) Magnet should be in place on flywheel. If no magnet is present, replace the flywheel or the entire base unit (if unable to replace flywheel).
Check RPM Sensor (requires shroud removal) RPM sensor should be aligned with magnet and connected to data cable. Realign sensor if necessary ( 1/8" clearance between sensor and flywheel) if still error 3 then check the sensor with a multi meter unplug sensor leads attach meter to sensor connectors. Have someone by hand rotate the pedal while you observe the multi meter opening and closing the internal sensor circuit if no change in meter readings then replace the sensor.
My Airdyne AD-6 crank arms are ~45* apart, not 180* Can they be adjusted?
It is possible that the crank arms are not seated correctly on the bottom bracket spindle, causing them to be misaligned. Try removing the crank arms and re-installing them, making sure that they are properly aligned with each other and with the bottom bracket spindle. If that doesn't work, there may be an issue with the bottom bracket itself, in which case it may need to be replaced.
