I installed a DLink DWLG510

Try uninstalling the driver and software then reboot, and reinstall if that does not work thenUninstall the driver, software shutdown computer remove card reboot and reinstall. If this does not work it is probably a registery issue. SO uninstall the driver and softwareedit the registery valueclick start - run Regedit to open registry editor, be careful to select the right value here.Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE - System - CurrentControlSet - Enumnow right click on Pci folder and select permissionsclick on everyone in this box and check full accessreboot it should solve your problem.Make sure the encryption you are using on the router is WEP that is what works for this specific card.

Here is the site for the driver.
http://www.dlink.com/products/?tab=3&pid=DWL-G510&rev=DWL-G510

Dlink does not have a configuration utility for this device, so it may be that there was not one offered. Instead you can use the zero configuration utility with Windows XP.

It also states that this device has been discontinued; the driver is the 1st release driver and has not been updated.

select the DWL-G510 driver to download it, or if you have the h/w rev.2 click the FAQ and select the option for a missing "wlanapi.dll" file. There is an updated driver for this revision on the link to that FAQ resolution. For ease of use it is here:
http://www.dlink.com/products/?tab=3&pid=DWL-G510&rev=DWL-G510_revB

Good luck and I hope this helps.

Wieless adapter is enabled and found when searched

If this is a new adaptor and you are just installing it - you must install the driver sofware BOFORE you install the hardware.

Uninstall the harware, and uninstall the software.

Reinstall the software and then reinstall the hardware.

My desktop cannot detect the card which i have

I posted how I solved the problem which was sparked by the suggestion posted by user "thisemily" on this post. I am repeating it here below to spare you the extra click, although I hope you have solved your issues by now! ;)
I ran recently across the same problem and solved it by changing the PCI slot where the card was installed... it makes little sense to humans, but apparently make a world of difference to the PC hardware ;)
Assuming you had installed unsuccessfully both Card and Driver you have them (like I did) both on your PC. In such ase, the solution for me was as follows: 1) Turn Off PC 2) Remove the card from the current PCI slot 3) Turn PC back On and remove driver 4) Turn Off PC, remove power cord and wait a minute or two 5) Do not install card yet 6) Turn PC back On and install the driver 7) Turn Off PC remove power cord 8) Install the Wireless card in a different PCI slot THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!!! Can't be the same slot as where it was installed before!!! Note: If you have none available swap PCI slots or remove a PCI card to free up a different slot for the wireless card... remove a card you need the least and in its place install the Dlink Card. You may want to hold off on installing in a second step the card you have just removed, to be on the "safest" side.
9) Once the card is installed, Power up your PC 10) Once windows will be back up and running the hardware wizard should kick in and tell you that new hardware was found. 11) Follow the on-screen instructions 12) click "Continue Anyway" when XP will warn you that the driver hasn't been signed 13) Installation should be completed after you click Finish at the end of the New Hardware Wizard process 14) Simply go to your wireless networks and make sure all works in order
(I know that this process may sound a bit "anal" in some steps, but I was no longer willing to deal with any possibility of problems of any kind as I was ready to rip that wireless card to shreds!)
I hope this will help those who struggled with reviving an old PC to give to a friend!

Are you trying to connect to the wireless network ?
You are using windows XP computer. and you have D-link adapter.
In case of windows XP computer there is built in utility to connect to the wireless network. and also you have Dlink utility to connect to the wireless network.
It will be better to use the Windows utility to connect to the wireless network.
Search for the wireless network and you will see your wireless network. I believe you have the wireless router.

Need the download for this

It's hard to get download replacement programs from D-Link. You will have to go to their site and write an email through their site. It's relatively painless. I received an answer back to my query for the installation CD for a WBR-1310 Wireless G router in just a few hours. They give you an ftp link into their site from where you can download the driver(s) you need.

I can not install this adapter to my computer right.

The drivers will be on the cd that came with the adapter. So when it asks to go to the net on this or the next window it should also ask to search for drivers in a certain place. Make sure that points to your cd. You may have to browse to the directory that contains the actual drivers. Usually you can tell if you are at the right directory as this is the only time the OK button is available.

Some of these cards require that you run the install to get them setup. If that is the case then put the cd in the drive and if it doesn't autorun, use my computer and click on the drive to start it, or look at the drive and run setup. If it asks what operating system just choose XP. The drivers are the same as Pro.

Once the drivers and software are installed you may have to run the card manager software to select what wireless network to connect to and to enter any security keys. It should show you a list of available wireless networks that it can see. Just select your network and enter the key if required. At this point you should be connected to your network and should be getting out on the internet as well.
