I have no connection to the internet going through
try rebooting your cable modem by unplugging it then after 15 seconds plug it back in. let it come up, then reboot your router and wait til it comes up. If it still doesn't connect then there may be an issue with the router. I'm guessing the cable modem is OK since you were able to post here. I was going to tell you to hard wire your computer to the cable modem as well.
I need the WEP key
Hi,
IF you want to get the WEP key for the wireless for the new laptop, you need to access the computer that is currently connected to it. then you need to co go command prompt by click on start > type in the start search box > cmd > then command prompt will come up > now you need to type 'ipconfig' and you need to get the numbers for default gateway.
Next is you need to open Internet Explorer, then type in the default gateway on the address box. And you will be shown the interface of the router. Just look for the Wireless settings then security and you should be able to get the WEP key you're looking for.
Thank you for using FIxya. Your recommendation is highly appreciated for the free support.
I moved my Dell desktop
You need to launch web browser and enter "http://192.168.0.1" into the address bar. Then the logon screen will appear, type in the username and password and click ok. Configuration screen will open. On the left, you click on a Wireless option, then Security. Enable the security and save the changes
I can't get my wireless
Im thinking , it might be the settings of your router....or might be the connection
-Connect your modem to the WAN/Internet port of your router
-Then connect your computer to any of the 4 ports which has 1-4 on it
-Make sure both modem and the router are on
-open an internet explorer (regardless if theres an internet connection or none)
-In the address bar typein 192.168.0.1
-Login window will appear leave the password blank then hit ok
-Click on Run wizard
-Just click on next and do whatever necessary changes you want there
-Usually it was set to dynamic Ip address
-then next and click on clone MAC address
-You can also set you wireless settings, ssid would be the name of your wireless network
-Channel you can select 6 or 11
-Next set your password to WEP enabled
-WEP encyption should be 64bit
-then you can think of any key that would server as your password, but remember you can use all the numbers but with letters you can only use A-F.. this is not case sensitive
-or you have the option not to put any security of your wireless, but this is not recommended
-Then lastly restart it.
-once its done clikc on the status tab on the upper section of the window
-and check if under WAN you have an IP address, if you have, then it means your good to go to check you internet connection if none just simply click on DHCP release then renew til you get IP address..
Hope this will help... (-_-)

What will i do if
All
you have to do is connect to the router and change security key/ secure
the connection. Just follow the following steps: -
First
you have to access the router through web browser (Internet Explorer)
by typing the IP address of your router in the address bar, which is
192.168.0.1 (Default router settings are written under the router) (unless you've configured otherwise, the default username is admin and the password "leave it blank") and lookup for the options to do the
following: -
Next step is to secure it:
1.On the left-hand side, under Setup, click "Wireless Setup"
2.Under "Wireless Security Mode", select your desired encryption method (preferably WPA2-PSK)
3.Choose a Network Key - it can be anything, as long as it's 8-63 characters in length
4. Click Save Settings.
1. Change the SSID (Name) of the router
2. Change the default administrative user name and password
(The above step would prevent unauthorized access to your router)Now your router and your connection would become secure and the user has to provide the network key to access the internet.
In case you have forgotten the User Name/ Password of the router
, there
is no way to recover the lost password However, you can reset the
router to factory defaults and re-configure settings like password,
network key etc. First, to reset the router to factory default setting,
press the reset button at the back of the router.
Please
note that after RESETTING THE ROUTER to defaults, ALL SETTINGS WILL BE
LOST AND YOU HAVE TO RECONFIGURE IT. Generally, after hard reset you
get the connectivity, however, you have to make the connection secure
etc.
Please, refer here
to download the product guide/manual and make configurations as per the
details provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.
Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

The network security key is essentially a password that was setup to control access to your network. Presumably, when you set it up you gave it a password that you could remember, but not so obvious that people could easily guess. If you've forgotten or lost the password, you can reset the router by using a paperclip and holding the reset button for about 10-15 seconds. Once you reset the router, it will be restored to its original factory defaults and you can then setup again your wireless networking.

It sounds like you are trying to connect to the D-link and either you are not connected to the internet or you are connected to another network. Be sure that if you are making a wireless connection that you have selected the 'dlink' (the usual default) or whatever the name of the network (SSID) that is being broadcast by the D-link. Once you are on the same network as the D-link router, then you may navigate to the 192.168.0.1.
I cannot use my internet if i use the d link
If you have a wireless router and it is connected to the DSLor cable modem then -
To connect to your wireless router, the router needsits wireless settings to be configured with the SSID, encryption key etc., alsothe wireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured withthese router's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers cancommunicate with your wireless router and access the Internet via the DSL or cable modem.
My laptop asks for a password or security pass
You need to connect to the router with a cable first. Login to the administration page at 192.168.0.1, default user name is "admin" and there is no password.
From the administration page go to the wireless settings and you should see what the passphrase is

Trying to connect D link router to hughesnet
Hi jwfarnell,
I see that you are configuing a wireless Network using a D-link.
You mentioned that you are trying to configure your wireless network to a hughesnet internet satellite service,
You will need to make sure that Internet service you have is capable of conencting to a router using an ethernet cable for the router to detect the Internet signal from the satellite Interent.
you will aslo need an extra ethernet cable to be able to connect the D-link directly to your compuer fisrt to be able to get in the Router settings, for a D-link your Default gateway should be 192.168.0.0 or 192.168.1.1, it will prompt you for a user name and password to get in the D-link router User name should be user and the Password leave it blank then press enter this should get you in the D-link Router.
setting the Router click on the wireless link then it should ask you for option regarding your satellite internet, also a security info will be asked from you if it is enable then you will have to create a network key for the wireless security. SSID is the name that you want your router to have for identification, also make sure that the wireless boradcasting is turned ON or Wireless signal is ON to be ble to get a wireless connection.
To be able to obtain internet you lso must know info from you satellite internet if you have a static IP or if it is a dynamic IP address if you have Dynamic then ther will be no problem setting things up.
I Hope this helps.
Have a nice day,
mvincentc
