Well.. i try connecting through

What do you mean??? the password do not work??? the configuration page do not appear???

First is your computer is connected to the DI-524 with a wire??? or not???, there could be a 1000 things that can prevent you to reach the configuration page of the router....

Check network connectivity first (wires, IP address, etc...) never try to configure a wireless router from the wireless connection, (always from the wired connections)

Have bought a new t v {panasonic viera} also

Ken,

You need to use the same encryption key that you provided when you connect any other wireless device to your wireless network. If you have never set up any device to connect wirelessly, you should do so now. On page 12 & 13 of the manual, you'll find detailed instructions on how to set up and more importantly, secure your wireless network with a 64 or 128 bit WEP key. Once you have logged in and see the screen shown on the bottom of page 12, do NOT click on "Run Wizard". Instead, simply click the "Wireless" button. Make sure you make note of the SSID (or change the SSID) and enter a new WEP encryption key (do not leave the keys unchanged or blank!) before navigating away from this page. If you choose a 64 bit key, you can provide a 10 "string" consisting of digits 0 - 9 and a - f. I like to use a telephone number because they are the correct length and there are plenty I know "in my head" and never forget them. You can pick whatever you like. You might want to write this info on a piece of paper and tape to the router for easy reference later. You should not change any other values in the router's settings or you may not be able to connect to the internet.

If you have previously set up other devices to connect to the router wirelessly, you'll have to update them with the new WEP key and SSID (if you changed it).

Read page 30 of the manual to learn how to change the Username and Password from the default settings.

That's it. I hope this helps & good luck. Please rate my reply. Thank you.

Hi, I need a install.cd

If there is an install CD it is not needed. These devices are managed using your computer's web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox). Everything you need to know about this process is here:

I forgot my parent controls pin

As far as I am aware, the only way to reset the pin, is to reset the router to factory defaults. You will then have to reconfigure your wireless settings. To reset to factory defaults:
Plug in the router.
1. Locate the small reset button. It is next to the power jack.
2. Use something to push the button, a paper clip works well.
3.Hold the reset switch down for 10 seconds.
4. Wait for the WLAN light to stop blinking. The router is now reset.
To reconfigure the settings on the router, enter 192.168.0.1 into your browser address bar.

My router range has sudently became extremely

Few thingsFirst reboot the router
  • Remove power from the router
  • Wait 30 seconds
  • Reapply power
Many consumer routers are filled with bugs and tend to randomly lock upNext you will want to log into the router and change your channel
  • enter in your web browser 192.168.0.1 - default IP address
  • Username: admin
  • Password: leave_blank
  • Click on the Wireless button
  • Change the Channel to 1,6,or 11  - by default routers (here in the states) come on 6...so many people use this, change it to 1 or 11 for better results
  • Click apply and reboot router again
These two procedures should solve your problem.  You should also always update to the latest firmware for your device.  New firmware will keep your router running as bug free as possible.Go here:http://www.dlink.com/products/default.aspx?pid=DI-524&tab=3
  • and select your model and version
  • download the firmware file
  • Log back into router with a WIRED connection (not wireless)
  • Click on Tools and then Firmware and follow the instruction to upload the file to the router
I hope this helps,Magoo

I try to plug in my router so i could have

First, reset your router on the back by inserting a paperclip into the reset button. Then allow your router to reset. Also you may want to reset your modem to get it all on the same page. Next connect the modem and router. Go through the process of changing the network name again, but make sure you use a Wired computer to the router. If you use a wireless connection you will not maintain the connection when you make the change.

When the change has been made, reconnect all wireless devices. You may need to unplug both your modem and router after making the change to get them to communicate properly again.

Can seem to secure my wi fi

first log in to your router. in your browser type the IP address for your router: 192.168.0.1 is the default IP address. The default user name is "user" password is . if it works you should see tgvern.jpg
Then click the wireless button on the left.
tgvern_0.jpg

Choose enabled for security, and enabled for SSID broadcast. For security I like WEP because they are most compatible, but there are other protocols you can choose as well. for WEP 128 bit you need a 26 digit key using 0-9 and A-F. Choose a code or use the following app to generate a key from a phrase, etc.
http://www.andrewscompanies.com/tools/wep.asp
make sure you keep a copy of this because you will need it to connect to your router.
Save all your settings and exit.
When you connect to your router after this it will ask you for the password (at least the first time-many computers will remember the password etc. after you enter it the first time) If it says connect automatically then it will remember the password etc. and connect whenever you are within range.

How to set security

It is recommended to enable encryption on your wireless router before your wireless network adapters. Please establish wireless connectivity before enabling encryption.

Note: Your network will slow down and wireless signal may degrade when enabling encryption due to the added overhead.

Step 1 Log into the web configuration of the router by opening up a web browser and typing in the IP address of the router (192.168.0.1).

Click here if you cannot access the web-based configuration.

Step 2 Enter your username (admin) and your password (blank by default). Click OK . Click the Home tab and click the Wireless button on the left hand side of the screen.

di614_128wep.gif

Step 3 Select Enable next to the WEP radio buttons. For WEP encryption select 64, 128, or 256-bit encryption. For the Key type select HEX. If you have an option for Authentication type, select Shared Key.

Step 4 Select Key 1. Enter a Hex encryption key that you make up. The length of the encryption key will depend on what you selected under WEP Encryption.

  • 64-bit encryption 10 characters
  • 128-bit encryption 26 characters
  • 256-bit encryption 58 characters (available on DI-614+ only)

  • The encryption key is HEX, meaning 0-9 and A-F are valid characters. For example, A4583DFF1A (64-bit HEX key).

Step 5 Click on the Apply button then click on the Continue button to save your settings.

    Hi, I'm trying to block

A PDF copy of your manual can be found here,,,

    http://files.dlink.com.au/products/DI-524/Manuals/DI-524_G2_Manual_3.00.pdf

You want to go to page 26/97 (based on PDF above)

Here you can enter the "domain name" of the site you want to block.

    example:

Click "Allow users to access all domains except Blocked Domains".

If you wanted to block "www.xyzzy.com" you would enter "www.xyzzy.com" into the "Blocked Domains" box, then hit "Apply". You enter whatever site you want blocked, no "http://", just the actual name, again, as example, www.xyzzy.com.

You may need to reboot your router after you are finished.

My internet connection via the router (d-link

Maybe you have an open WiFi (no password wireless) and anyboby near can connect to your router and download files, this can slow down your Internet connection. To put a password to your wireless network, enter setup preferably by a wired connection to router, in your browser type the default IP address of it (http://192.168.0.1), the user is admin and its password must be left blank (default settings), at the Home tab go directly to Wireless option since you'll only change your WiFi from unsecure to secure, there you can choose the security type, WPA is recommended, after select it you can put the new Key (password) of your WiFi, and finally apply to get changes working, just remember that after this procedure, you'll have to enter the password in each new wireless connection to your router.
