Here is what you can do. You need to access the setup page of your Dlink Access Point.
1. connect a computer directly to the access point (via ethernet). Then assign an IP address on the computer (IP: 192.168.0.10 Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0 DG: 192.168.0.1 ). It is necessary for you to assign an IP address because your access point does not have the ability to assign an IP address to the a computer, its is not like a router.
2. After you assigned an IP address, you can now access the Dlink Access point's setup page. To do that open your browser in the address bar type http://192.168.0.50 (this is the address of your access piont) and it will ask you to put a username and password. Just type admin for both username and password field. And it will take you to the setup page of the access point.
3. To enable a wireless security, just click the tab on the left hand side that says Advanced, it will populate the options under Advanced and select security. On the main screen you will now have an option for security modem, you can select wpa-psk, then on the Key box you can type any password that you want (8-63 characters). Then click update there at the bottom of the page. If you also want to change the name that the Access point is broadcasting you can go to the on the left hand side that says Wireless and put any name that you want on the box that says SSID. After that click updat button again.
4. Now after updating the settings, You can reconnect to the network. And this time you will now be asked for the network key. Just type your network key. That's it.

I had the same problem with a DLINK DAP-1160, it did not seem to reset and I could not connect, nor PING it. It turned out that the box WAS resetting, and although the default IP address 192.168.0.50 and subnet 255.255.255.0 was being set, my computer was assigning itself up a private IP address and subnet 255.255.0.0. In the manual, it does say that you must be on the same subnet, so I changed my alternate IP address for my ethernet to be static and set the subnet to 255.255.255.0 and everything sprung in to life.To summarise: make sure the computer you are using to configure the DAP-1160 has its subnet to 255.255.255.0.

When you say you moved to a new place, does this mean new address? First, I would like to know if your Internet Service has already been established/connected since you moved.

You should reset the unit back to factory and also install the latest firmware , if it not already updated previously. This unit was discontinued by the manufacturer back in 2004.

Be sure you select the correct version for the manual and firmware

To reset the D-Link back to the default settings -
Press and hold the RESET button at the back of the router with the power ONuntil the LEDs flash at the time the release the RESET button.
Connect a LAN cable from the D-Link to your laptop/computer's LAN port, openthe browser on your laptop/computer and enter the D-Link's configuration URL..

You can now configure the wireless settings. Now configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop withthe router's wireless settings.

Try RESETTING the D-Link.
Press and hold the RESET button at the back of the routerwith the power ON until the LEDs flash at the time the release the RESETbutton.
Connect a LAN cable from the D-Link to your laptop/computer's LAN port, openthe browser on your laptop/computer and enter the D-Link's configuration URL..

You can also configure it with below method.
Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. If you are still not able to access router with above ip then you need to RESET it for that press RESET button for 10 seconds it is in back side of router then all settings defaults..Then you can access it with above method. Then click on WAN settings set it as your internet service provider settings enable DHCP Then click on wireless and enable it. . Then click on wireless->wireless security->WEP security there is code password note down it or enter new password then save setting s and restart router. then you can connect wireless with new password. If you have a wireless router and it is connected to the DSLor cable modem then - To connect to your wireless router, the router needsits wireless settings to be configured with the SSID, encryption key etc., alsothe wireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured withthese router's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicatewith your wireless router and access the Internet via the DSL or cable modem.

Read the manual again or hire someone who knows what they are doing. Your question is beyond free help.

Do not type the IP address and subnet mask, just click on obtaib the IP address automatically and obtain the DNS automatically. Because if you encode the IP and subnet mask, there would be conflict and let the internet explorer configure it automatically.
