Wireless security

Hi anthony - Could you please let me know the makes and model#s of the wireless pcs your running on your network. Also what operating system they're running. I just need to know because once you set up your routers' security you'll have to set up the wireless pcs with same security or they won't have access to the network. If you already know how to do that don't worry about it. Just thought I'd help you do that too. Just make a little list with one pc a line and each ones' info. Then I'll be happy to assist you. Thanks.

Setting passwords on dell truemobile wireless router

Hello, The default address for the dell truemobile 1184 is 192.168.2.1 If you have changed it and forgot, unplug the router (elec) for 5 seconds. This will reset it to default. The default SSID is "wireless". If a user ID and/or password is asked for enter "admin". Here you can change settings, enable broadcast, change SSID, enable WEP or WPA. Hope this helps.

Instalation disk doesn't find internet connectivity

It's not uncommon for router installation disks to act up in this fashion. If you're connected to the internet in the fashion you want to be (wired or wireless) then you're good to go.

In fact, when I worked Internet Tech Support I urged folks to *not* use the installation disk, as often it creates more problems than it solves!

If you're unable to connect through the means you want to then a good start would be to reset the router back to factory defaults. You should be able to find a reset button (often more like a small hole) on the router itself. Get a paper clip and hold in on the button (with the router plugged in) for about fifteen seconds, then release. It'll go through its diagnostics then come back up with a clean slate. THEN see if you can get online.

Let us know what happens.

Truemobil 2300 cannot access internet via wireless

Is there a computer or another device connected to this router that can access the internet?

IF yes -- by wire?
IF yes - by wireiess?

The more of the above that is true the less we need to research.

Initially I will assume (until informed otherwise) your router is working both via the wire and wireless to the internet.

IF you have a working wireless computer --

When it was configured did you load an wireless SSID (name)?

Where you required to enter a passpharase, password or network key?

Did you provide any entries to the following fields during configuration for the computer's wireless.
IP Address --------- (like 192.168.1.?)
Subnet Mask -------(often 255.255.255.0)
Default Gateway - (router lan address like 192.168.1.1)
DNS Address ----- (maybe the router lan address or
---------------------------- as supplied by your
-------------------------------- internet service provider)

Being able to answer the above is a requirement for completing the steps outlined below

The generic connection and configuration document
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/setup/xbox.mspx

This is a good description of possible router options. These suggest strongly the creation of a static IP address for the XBox to enable all functionality in the online environment, if desired.

http://www.ianarchbold.com/xboxlive/index.html

If you need assistance setting this up in your environment leave a comment on this problem and I will respond.

Connection

Is this a situation where the connection works when plugged into modem that came with the DSL; then does not work when you try to use the router?

If not it is probably another problem.

If so check out the following

Routers require configuration (setup) to connect to some devices to access the internet1.gif.

I am will need to know your internet service provider (ISP) -- (as this is DSL possibly the name of the local phone company?).

If you are not familiar with configuring your wireless router --
Will you provide me with the Manufacturer and Model of the
Router? They all configure differently when it comes to
detailed instructions.

I may need manufacturer and model information on your modem device depending on what I find at the ISP's site. (if the link is right I probably do not need this).

Yes we will want to test with a wired connection first then on to any wireless connections you are considering.

With wireless services attached to your network1.gif you should also consider securing that wireless service1.gif so others cannot easily access your network and computers, like your neighbors or people on the street with a laptop.

If you want to consider that I can discuss several options with you. However to determine which options your equipment supports I will need to know the manufacturer and model number of your wireless adapter or the computer1.gif with a built-in wireless adapter you intend to connect to your wireless network1.gif.

Router Dell-Wireless 2350 (Linksys)

First try to check if your router is really configured correctly. Then try to check your banwidth, because bandwidth can also make your computer freeze. Then check also your cable if it is ok. Then try also to check the disk space in your computer because if your disk space is full or almost full it can also make your computer to freeze.

Truemobile 2300 router

You may need to enable the wireless signal within the router settings, but you will have to connect to it via an RJ45 lan cable, as you would of when you first set it up. Type in the routers ip address in your internet browser and get into the routers settings that way.

Check out Big Fish Games. It is a subscription service but they have all types of games including adventure and hidden object. You can also tryp Pogo since they have both a fee and subscription service. Last, but not least, you can try one of your local computer stores or the electronics section of "big box" stores like Target, Walmart, Kmart, etc.

I've got a dell inspiron 20 model 3052 series how do you reset it to factory settings or reset the password thought it was a monitor any help would be very greatfull!

Unfortunately, resetting a Dell Inspiron 20 model 3052 series to factory settings requires you to use a recovery disk or USB drive, as the system does not include a built-in resetting option. To reset your password, you will need to use a password or recovery disk. You can create a password or recovery disk using the Dell Support website.
