Is there a computer or another device connected to this router that can access the internet?
IF yes -- by wire?
IF yes - by wireiess?
The more of the above that is true the less we need to research.
Initially I will assume (until informed otherwise) your router is working both via the wire and wireless to the internet.
IF you have a working wireless computer --
When it was configured did you load an wireless SSID (name)?
Where you required to enter a passpharase, password or network key?
Did you provide any entries to the following fields during configuration for the computer's wireless.
IP Address --------- (like 192.168.1.?)
Subnet Mask -------(often 255.255.255.0)
Default Gateway - (router lan address like 192.168.1.1)
DNS Address ----- (maybe the router lan address or
---------------------------- as supplied by your
-------------------------------- internet service provider)
Being able to answer the above is a requirement for completing the steps outlined below
The generic connection and configuration document
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/setup/xbox.mspxThis is a good description of possible router options. These suggest strongly the creation of a static IP address for the XBox to enable all functionality in the online environment, if desired.
