I would start by looking for a wiring problem - loose, corroded, frayed, shorting.......

You wont be able to see engine hours without using a engine specific interface cable that will let these 2 pieces of equipment to talk to one another.You can also use a Nema 2000 network to interface these together to get engine hours but the go5 alone wont be able to get this information for you.

This is almost always a power supply issue. Check and clean your positive and negative connections. Although the link below is for car batteries, the principles are the same. If that gives you no joy, check the plug and socket of your unit. It doesn't take much corrosion to render an electronic device inoperable. Hope this helps. -Steve How to Clean Car Battery Terminals
